Maccabi Haifa striker Roberto Colautti – one of many strikers linked with Pompey – has reportedly told the News of the World it would be ‘a dream’ to play in England.

‘It would be a dream to play in the Premier League.

‘But it depends on my club as I have a contract with them until 2009.’

All players say such things when they are looking for a move – and whether or not Pompey are even interested in Colautti, only the club knows – but he certainly seems to know where the goal is.

Colautti was born in Argentina, starting his career with the famous Argentine side the great Maradona played for, Boca Juniors, before transferring to Maccabi Haifa – the former club of a certain ex Pompey striker Yakubu, also reported to be ready to return – where he has scored an impressive 32 goals in 58 games. By marrying his Israeli girlfriend he gained citizenship, with him now an Israeli international.

At 25 Colautti still has time very much on his side and certainly has an impressive record, but he is just one of a number of ‘reported’ striking targets including the already mentioned Yakubu, Giampaolo Pazzini and Fredi Kanoute – all in the last 24 hours or so alone.

Links can become tiresome during ‘silly season,’ with many of them having absolutely no truth behind them at all – so links with Colautti could be just that – but If we get ‘linked’ with enough we will eventually sign at least one, you would think – or at least hope.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
