Still cant believe all those yellows!!!
pentonpompey
the ref was a joke tho wasnt he - but then again the wiesel looking one always is...
pompeyrug
john utaka was again very disappointing for me, this bad form has gone on for far too long and now i really do think that it is time to try matty taylor and kranjcar on either wing - utaka, no matter how much he cost cannot keep a place in the side regardless... matty taylor got on for 2 minutes at the end, but i think that 'arry should have brought him on when he had kanu for utaka.
pompeyrug
Totally agree about Utaka, definately didnt earn his wages, the poorest performance by a pompey player by a mile...although Pedro challenged him in the 1st half, bally awful, thankfully he put his football head on in the 2nd.
pentonpompey
And i can now see why Benji has scored 8 goals this season...someone has told him to be more selfish...would somebody tell him there are 9 other outfield players to pass to!!
pentonpompey
agreed mate benji still works as hard as ever but he has got to start remebering that he is still 'part of a team' and has to start passing again, we dont need or want another lualua on our hands so we!
pompeyrug
when utaka started by tacking back into the corner to make a tackle i thought 'were on' but he once agin did little or nothing... he might blow hot and cold but he is freezing at the moment so why not take this oppotunity to start preapring for his 'forced' absense by making him force his way back into the starting 11 instead of - sorry to be harsh - basically playing with 9 outfield players as we have for large periods in recent weeks, as for them ost part we may as well have...
pompeyrug
I love Benji, but there is a limit to how many times he can run into a brick wall
pentonpompey
yep, very true and this did happen a fair bit against villa didnt it - im all for him keep trying to score, but if a pass if a better or more realistic option it is one that needs to be taken.
pompeyrug
i didnt actually particually notice benji loosing the ball too often...the amount of yellow cards was a little riduclas! when the first one ws given to the villa player, i thought "here we go"...then they eased off, then he just gave them for every single foul!!!
pompeycarpet
he wasnt giving the ball away as such, just running down a blind alley quite often, then lost the ball as a result - so in a way giving it away... im not getting at benji as i love the fella.
pompeyrug
the oddest thing in the match was that Benjani had only one shot, all of the shots came from the midfields, Diop with 2, Kranjcar 5 and Muntari with 6. We need a little shakeup in the attack
whitestones
im happy with the way things are going away and if we keep going like we are i dont really care or mind where the goals come from... at home i completely agree that we do need a shake up strikers wise and that would be playing 2 up front, with that being benjani with utaka, kanu or nuge - preferrably nuge, but we just need to play 2 up front at home...
pompeyrug
Well played. Deserved win, although I thought it was one of those games where nothing went our way. Interesting to see your lads berating the ref about the yellow cards. It shows how people see things different. The Villa fans were enraged at the LACK of yellow cards in the first half when Ashley Young was being fouled every time he got the ball! I guess we all see things our own way and have opinions slanted toward our own team. I couldn't believe how we were losing at half time, but I thought Pompey played very well in the 2nd half stoppingus getting up a 'head of steam' like we did against Arsenal. Two great goals, but no comment about the freak first one!
krfeskivilla
i said that exact thing to the villa friend i was sitting with in the villa crowd - that it is funny how fans see thing differently depending on which side of the fence you sit... however i honestly cannot say that villa deserved to win mate! you huffed and puffed but the end product wasnt there, we took the chances you didnt and altho 3-1 might be a bit unfair we certainly were not unworthy winners i dont think.
pompeyrug
As I said, Pompey deserved to win. No complaints, but when you lose you always find reasons why, some correct, some not. I still think that come the end of the season wie will be challenging you, Man City, Blackburn and Everton for 5th place. january will be crucial to all clubs involved.
krfeskivilla
december is a crucial month for us i reckon - the higher we are come january the 'better' players we can attract in the sales... this is a tough month for us, weve already got 4pts from games with everton and villa, its spurs (h) next week, liverpool (a), arsenal (h) and we finish with boro (h) so if we can get through that undamaged, or with minimal damage things are going to look very, very good for us...
pompeyrug
we should definatly be looking to get through them unbeaten - liverpool and arsnal the only expected slip ups, although spurs is also a posibility, as is everton, and if we get on a bad role, then maybe others will follow...
pompeycarpet
well we got through everton and villa didnt we, if we lose to spurs i will be very disappointed, we should beat them at home... liverpool away is a game i really think we can win, and i will not accept arsenal as being an 'acceptable' game to lose - as it isnt, we shouldnt accept defeat against anyone at home, not even the 'big 4'...
pompeyrug
Was the ref on a bonus for giving out yellow cards?
tracyc
he made some 'odd' decisions i know that much, but then again he always does - he's not one of my 'favourite' refs tbh...
pompeyrug
Still can't quite believe we are 6 wins on the road - That takes some doing by any team - well done lads... On the Benij theme is it not a case of that as he is playing up front on his own he has nobody to pass too ? - Also, when is Utaka going to be dropped he's not pulling his weight at all at the moment...
