The manager needs to reflect carefully on his team selection today. Mendes on the bench? Davis in midfield? Johnson at right back? Lauren right midfield? Not impressed.

Agreed, we have not replaced GON rather reduced the quality on the right. Doubt if sideboard will make much differnce either. Much improvement needed & it won't be easy with the red scouse & dirty B'burn away to come.

He needs to fit Kranjcar, Mendes, Taylor and Muntari in the midfield.

also agreed Et_tu_Pompeii... im not sure he can put out a midfield with all those fellas in it tbh stillthewhizz - maybe away games in his favoured 4-5-1...

We're lacking a confident swinger of the ball now that O'Neil is gone, Kranjcar has to be that man. If only he was a right winger. James, Johnson, Primus, Campbell, Distin, Utaka, Mendes, Muntari, Kranjcar, Benjani, Kanu. That has to be it. I still feel like Harry doesn't know what to do with Utaka though.

i do like that side mate - and i do think kranjcar is going to be awesome this season, but i really feel that matty taylor's ability to get up and down the pitch all ay long needs him to be in to add that defensive cover as well as his offensive skills... by selling o'neil he's made it an easy option to play him on the right - keep him their i say, but he doesnt offer much defensively tho oes he, so with johnson behind him we could be up a certain creek...

Which begs the question apart from him being 'our boy' why on earth did he let go of O'Neil? Going to have to sit this one out and pray that Johnson/Lauren comes good.

it is still not a question i cant answer - despite so many answers offered to me... tbh i think o'neil was not rated as highly as he should have been, granted we all loved him, but i think he is a better footballer than some credit him and he did and could have still done a job on the right or middle. but ive decided that 'arry has to be given the benefit of the doubt on this one and pray it pays off...
