Sorry to say, but both Mokoena and Hughes are not Premier League quality. They cannot hold the ball, they cannot pass it, they don't know how to hit the target and they rarely score! How on earth can you play against Arsenal with these players on the team... A poor decision by Grant, which I cannot understand. Having Diop and Brown on the bench does not make any sense to me, or perhaps, Grant was sure we were there to honor the fixture with no hopes at all.

sometimes you can get away with one of them (probably best hughes) but against sides like arsenal who will pass the midfield to death you need a bit more mobility. trouble was we did break down the play in spells but when we needed a bit of quality like a connecting pass to take a few seconds out the game, it was lacking and the ball came straight back at us, resulting in constant pressure

I not really sure what to say, that won't be repeated elsewhere. Except to say; it was abject from top to bottom...

also theres no doubting boatengs class but he tries to do far too much which results in usually giving away possession

I was suprised at that team selection as well. Its the first time I've heard the fans calling for the ref to send off one of their own players (Mokoena). We were never going to win this, but the performance in the main part was poor. Begovic, Belhadj and Kaboul played well and with spirit.

It was a farce, having the worst 2 players as captains! Both Mokoena and Hughes can't guide themselves let alone a whole team. I hope Hart come back to take that idiot Mokoena away. The greatest signing we have done in a decade! Jesus, that is why no one wanted him. I am also sure that he won't even be called up by SA for the world cup. Even in Malta we have more than a dozen better players than him, and we have very poor players usually.

Just as bad signings over the last few years:- Valéry Mézague (Redknapp) Collins Mbesuma (Perrin)

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
