Knowing me knowing you - stillthewhizz

Knowing me knowing you - stillthewhizz
1 - Vital Pompey username?
stillthewhizz although I prefer to be referred to as just 'Whizz'.

2 - Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
Pompey born and bred since 1986. One of Vital Pompey's younger members. I'm at uni at the moment in Epsom but I come back home every weekend.

3 - How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
6 or 7 months I think. (written in early January 2008)

4 - What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
The best web site for talking about Pompey. I was attracted by the personal views of 'the landlord' and the sensible replies in the posts. BBC 606 is too much of a playground and the other sites are just too poorly executed. However I think there's too much disparity between the news posts and the forum.

5 - How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
5 - How did you find out about Vital Pompey? - News Now like everyone else but unlike the other sites on News Now, I kept coming back to Vital Pompey.

6 - When did you first watch Pompey live - not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
My dad took me to a few games in the early 90's but I think the earliest game I remember is an away game at Swindon which sent them down I believe, 2-0 to Pompey.

7 - How often do you get to watch Pompey?
Every home Premier League game and I normally fit a minimum of 5 away games a season.

8 - Who is your favourite Pompey Player - current and/or former?
Currently it has to be Niko Kranjcar. I saw the potential when he first touched a ball and I would have said Manuel Fernandes had we not fluffed about with that one. In the past it has to be John Aloisi, which may sound like a strange one but he has Italian ancestry like me and I think I just wanted to put on a Pompey shirt and be like him.

9 - What is you favourite Pompey moment?
Pompey 4-1 Saints. Pompey 7-4 Reading. Pompey 1-0 Burnley. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd be where we are today after languishing in the First Division for so many years.

10 - What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
To keep developing firstly as a team and secondly as a business. In terms of league position, I'd like us to one day be the best out of the teams below the top 4.

good to know alittle more about you whizz - thanks for sharing with us and thanks for the kind words you shared... i too had always been a fan of aloisi - as dave pointed out in one of his sunday toast articles recently... we 'could' be the best of the teams outside of the top 4 this season, you never know - you also never know we might actually be one of the best 4 in the country come may...

Pleased to meet you Whizz, i know Epsom well as i used to live in Ewell, Aloisi scored for fun, he wasa good player in his time at Pompey
10/02/2008 13:19:00
Nice one Whizz...Wouldn't it be good if we could become consistently become England 5th team, then we may have a chance to break into the top 4.. although with Liverpool playing poorly this season it's still up for grabs even though Everton are doing their damndest to cling on to it.... Oh I also liked Alosi, but not because of his Italian ancestry but because hs was one of the many Ozzies that actually lived up to his reputation...

Kranjcar was my favourite until I saw Diarra. He's possibly the best player i've ever seen in a Pompey shirt.
10/02/2008 16:00:00
Its good to know a bit more about you Whizz and I agree, since Diarra has come over, Kranjcar has lost a bit of his potency
10/02/2008 17:36:00
Nice one Whizz. Funny you should say about Diarra, I was harangued by two blokes on Friday night making exactly the same point and they were convinced he would end up Player of the Season!!
10/02/2008 18:34:00
Diarra has been our best outfield player in each of the games since he's joined. It'll be interesting to see how he links up with Muntari and if it takes a little bit away from him? If he keeps going the way he is, he'll definitely be player of the season.
10/02/2008 19:25:00
Good to meet you Whizz. I still haven't seen Diarra in action yet. Hope he's as good as everyone makes out.
10/02/2008 19:50:00
With you on John Aloisi Sir - indeed a class act although he didnt make it to my all time 11!
10/02/2008 19:59:00
Hi Whizz. I was at that Swindon match which sent them down. Some revenge for spoiling our play offs a few years earlier. Epsom, handy for the horse racing!

Options increase for Notts County

It looks as though Pompey have a near full strength squad to call upon on for the visit we'll have from Notts County. Cook probably wouldn't change much from Plymouth?
