Knowing me knowing you - Toronto4pompey

1 - Vital Pompey username?
Toronto4pompey.

2 - Where do you come from/where do you currently live?
I was born in Guildford, grew up in Godalming Surrey off and on until about age 13, then moved to Canada. I now live and work in Brampton, which is about half an hour outside of Toronto.

3 - How long have you been a Vital Pompey member?
Not certain but it was when Les was running the joint - so that must be eons ago right!

4 - What do you think of Vital Pompey? Be brutally honest!
I think it's brutally superb. The articles are well thought out, the feedback from the members is thoughtful & well informed and for those of us not able to get to the games, it's one of the best ways of being part of it all.

5 - How did you find out about Vital Pompey?
Internet.

6 - When did you first watch Pompey live - not on box unless this is the only way you have been able to see them? Not necessarily at Fortress Fratton though.
1976, v. Brighton & Hove Albion, Div 3.

7 - How often do you get to watch Pompey?
Quite a bit these days. Setanta broadcasts or rebroadcasts most EPL games every week out here (except the bloody Reading game, which was pre-empted due to the f----g rugby world cup. I must be the only mug on this site who has never actually seen that game. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!)

8 - Who is your favourite Pompey Player - current and/or former?
Matt Taylor, but Distin is giving him a run for the money these days.

9 - What is you favourite Pompey moment?
Well I'd like to say the Reading game but....toughing it out and surviving in the EPL 2 seasons ago when everyone else had written us off. Most people out here are fans of the "Big 4", but I doubt they could be as proud of their teams as I was of mine that year and still am.

10 - What are your realistic hopes for Pompey in the future?
I'm an optimist so the sky's the limit. No Europe next year would be a huge disappointment though, so no more "well, we're only Pompey after all" for me Arry!

Amazing Toronto; I was also born in Guildford and grew up in Godalming too before moving out to Sydney. I was back in England first time in 1976 and went down to Fratton to see us beat high flying Brighton in Div 3 (30,000 I believe). We were struggling but beat them 1-0. My mum still lives in Godalming and that is where I will be based among my hectic touring schedule. I had to go to Toronto back in the 90s with my work - twice in fact (August 32C and February -9C). Good Luck...Toronto for now...

Yes gray - what a first game. We were bottom they were top 32,000 in the Park and Dave Kemp gets the winner. Grahame Lloyd also saved a penalty. Certain I have written about that one somewhere!! Good to hear to are safe and well. And welcome Toronto!!

Hi ya Toronto, nice to finally get to know a little more about our North American correspondent. David Kemp.. What a hero he was ... The off the only players to be leading scorer for two clubs in the same season... Ohhhh we'll drink-a drink-a drink to David Kemp-a kemp-a kemp.... Loved that song.
