Sean Davis - Most improved player?

Sean Davis - Most improved player?
Other squad members such as Richard Hughes, Manuel Fernandes and Pedro Mendes have all been preferred to Sean during this time. However this season Sean has thrived in the middle of our centre midfield, and his apparent rise in quality has coincided with Portsmouth's fantastic form in the league, home and away.

Yet still there are people who are meant to be supporters of this football club, who phone up the local radio station after every game and criticise Sean Davis, questioning why he was even on the pitch.

Looking back at some important games this season, Sean has contributed fantastically to our season.

In the goalless home draw against Liverpool, Sean made at least three amazing last ditch tackles to halt the Liverpool attack. If you combine these with his great positioning and quick feet, it's no wonder we have had such a sturdy defence this season. Sean breaks down a lot of attacks quickly, allowing us to break forward, and although he occasionally holds onto the ball for too long, there is no doubt that he deserves to be in the first team.

I have never been a big fan of Sean's, but on occasions I have been in awe of the tackles he has made, and I just can't understand the criticism that he gets. Without Sean, we wouldn't be where we are today.

If only he didn't get booked so much...

very good read jbaker - and something that i completely agree with... we are seeing a much, much improved player from the fella - who altho not poor by any means! - that we used to see around the time of the image of him above... he is now an instrumental part of our set-up and we really miss him when he isnt playing - altho ive never been completely anti davis ive not - until earlier in pre-season - not been pro davis either, but he has been fantastic this season, davis for england!

also, talking about the 'last ditch tackles' he did one against blackburn when we won 1-0 and also at least one against reading when we won 7-4 - the thing about both that sticks in my mind is that he not only cleanly won the ball on the edge of his own area but he also came away with the ball both times! the yellow cards need to be reduced tho, as these could cost us...

This proves how form and fortunes change. Could be talking in a similar way about Nugent in a few months time?

An excellent player, young enough to give us great service over the next few years, certainly smoothed out GON's departure

The bloke is class, I really like him and reckon he has grown in statur and importance to the team, until now Harry has kept faith with those who have currently worn the shirt (rightly so) but I feel Davis will force his way straight back in when fit

one of 'arry's 'untouchables' and rightly so... he's got to be in as good a form - probably better - than the form in which he was showing when he was given an england call-up when he played for fulham?

doesnt it just go to show what a great judge Harry is because of the three that came from Spurs last year, I bet 90% of fans ,moi included , thought that 2 of them were only bought as bit part players. How wrong we were!!

Was never a lover of Sean before this season and alsways saw him as a typical 'Fulham' player if you know what I mean, but it seems that since Gary O has moved on he's stopped mucking about and knuckled down a bit..which has been to everybodies benefit .. My player of the season so far.. nice shout jbaker
