Pompey 1 point better than expected!
16 points from 6 games - 3 more than we predicted, and a great return from tough away games against Newcastle and Blackburn - and just 2 points dropped against an impressive West ham side.

22 points from 12 games - 1 more than predicted - and an extremely good result for us, and we couldn't honestly have hoped for a better start!

Pompey have been flying high this season, nestling 5th in the table (although Liverpool and Blackburn have a game in hand) - and there have been suggestions that we could be the ones to crack the top 4. Alan Shearer has suggested, various newspapers have - in fact; the only people not to suggest it are Portsmouth fans (and spurs fans, who maintain it will be them).

So the question is, how many points can we get from tough away games against Birmingham, Aston villa and Liverpool, and equally challenging home games against high flying Man City, Everton, and a Tottenham side who look in need of some good results?

ummm The next six.... realistically ... City @ Home = Win, Birmingham @ Away = Win, Aston Villa @ Away = Draw, Liverpool @ Away = Lose, Everton @ Home = Draw, Tottenham @ Home = Win .. so what does that make ... 11 from the next 6 .... I've hedged my bets a little so if pushed ould vote 13pts in the poll

city, birmingham, everton and spurs i will have as wins... villa, you never know, but a point wouldnt be bad. liverpool give me a point and i will take it no questions asked! im maybe too optimistic but i still think we could come through these games unbeaten...

i bumped into a fella i work with yesterday - i was wearing my benji shirt and he said i was scum, so i said why and he said he was from southampton then had to dash off... anyway i saw him again a while later and we had a bit of a chat where i found out he supported scum too but it was all civil :-) i explained to him that i dont much care for the rivalry tbh as im more concerned about what we are doing than anything else to which he agreed... but also said we were the kings of hampshire which is a bit depresing!

Scum have magically transformed into a selling club now....I'd liken them to Crewe Alexandra.....they develop cracking young players and they are snaffled up by the bigger fish. And what's more, the manager doesn't get the funds filtered down to him to improve the team! Damn shame....

i think that 13 points is a little optimistic. man city will be tough - but we should win, birmingham will be tough (becasue its away) but we should win, totenham will be hard, as i expect them to have a resurgence in there form by then, aston villa will be one of the touhgest away days of the season, everton will be very tough, and liverpool...well, it depends on how they are playing - but anything better than 8-0 could be a good result.

I was thinking the same as carpet, games away are tough, but this season it is the complete reserve, and we have been playing fantastic away from home, and i dont see home advantage important when I see portsmouth play, unless were at fratton : )
