Six of the best

Six of the best
Only an under performing Tottenham side, and an Everton team, fresh from 2 defeats have yet to face us from the 8 teams competing at the "higher" level, and surely, after our performances, they must be dreading it. Only Arsenal - ironically branded "special" by Harry managed to beat us convincingly, whilst the "special one" (now departed) side did not deserve the points they took.

Surely, after breaking our away win duck, we can move on to the next level, and assert ourselves as a team that, not only challengers for Europe, but one that people associate with Europe. The players coming in all said that they came because this club is going places, and with plans for the stadium coming along, our youth team playing well, and our first away win this year, everything looks to be lining up for one good year for us!!!

However, as we all know, this is Pompey we are talking about. Last year, we beat Manchester united at home - when they could ill-afford to lose - and then went on to lose to Watford the following game - after they were (practically) relegated. Frequently, we will play out of our boots in one game, then collapse the following one. The win against Blackburn was a step in the right direction. After a series of good results, there was a risk of complacency settling in, but we shook it off.

Now, having played the best teams in the league, its time to move on, and knock up some points, before the hard games come back round again. "13 points from the next 6" - I wouldn't bet against 18.

We have done ok except for the performance at the Emirates, i just hope that they continue with the good work,i would love to see us scoring more goals, and especially David Nugent getting a few in the premiership.

agreed owenspompey, although i thought we were poor at Derby and exceedingly ordinary against the scousers. As i posted somewhere else i am worried about our goal scoring, not much seems to have changed since last year, so i think it would be worth blooding Nugent for the games against fulham, wigan and maybe reading, cant see it though as kanu will insist on being picked to get his games and contract extension

We will be okay again this season, but if we can sort out the away form properly we can have a stormer, now Distin and Campbell have been paired look how Johnson's form has come on. He may have sacrificed a little going forward but his defensive side has leapt on

Nice one Carpet! But we must not get too optimistic. Yes we look good and have won away from home but I think the top clubs this year will differ from last. Villa, City, West Ham and Newcastle have all improved and we have not played them yet. HR is right this is a tough league. Not a pessimist me just urging caution.

Some that under-achieved last season are not this, so we have a few more toughies to face. It's the Readings, Wigans & Fulhams of the divison which we need to beat. Yes our next 3 games!!!

Over and out?

Noel Hunt's Pompey career could be over? A dislocated shoulder, at Hartlepool, means the former Southend man will not feature against Mansfield or Cheltenham.

Burgess - we can go again in league one

Christian Burgess, like the rest of us, is enjoying Pompey's promotion to league one BUT he's not content to settle at that level - he's already eyeing the Championship.

Winger returns but full back on his way out?

Ex-Chelsea & Walsall winger Lalkovic is back at Pompey, ahead of the proposed end to his Ross loan. Talbot looks as if his Blues days are numbered, a Chesterfield return is mooted?
