Take A Deep Breath And Remember Today

Take A Deep Breath And Remember Today
Right now it feels better than for some time to be a Pompey fan. We're out of administration, we have a Pompey stalwart as our manager and 'we' now own the club and ground.

After all we've had to put up with it's a relief.

Now here's a warning for us all. We've got what we wanted, the club belongs to us and we can surely only progress upwards from here. Well maybe so but things will get rocky at some point in the future. When that happens, just remember today and bite your lip before screaming for the manager's head or the board to be sacked.

If we lose our first few matches next season or if we don't go straight back up, let's all keep calm and stick with the plan. If the gates remain good we will surely have a reasonably bright future and should stay solvent.

In my worst dreams I hear 'fans' demanding we mortgage the ground to raise funds to buy that one player we need to get out of division 2 or 1 or the Championship. Or maybe I'm too un-ambitious?

I agree. Unfortunately there are plenty of individual morons out there who because their gran's next-door neighbour's tennis partner pledged a share, will swan about and sneer at other fans' views and opinions. Worse still is the type of person who phones in to Inexpressive FM and says "If Whittingham doesn't start to play Liam Walker then it's a disgrace and I'm withdrawing my pledge". I know this sort of thing is going to happen but I hope it is not what the abiding memory of the community club is when all is said and done.

Target number one MUST be to sell 10,000 season tickets next term.

you are right L&Q but i do think, certainly hope, that more will share the opinion of Stmonkton52 and be appreciative of what we have and be realistic in what we want, and hope for with the price that could come at...
yep, we have come close to seeing it end a few times over the year but have NEVER come as close as we had this season.

No Rotherham grudge for Jackett

Rotherham - where he was in charge for a brief 39-day spell - were the last club for Kenny Jackett before Pompey. He's set for a return this afternoon in another tough game.

No midfield addition...ahead of Rotherham anyway

With Rose out for the season, on-loan Cardiff man O'Keefe for the next three months, a defensive midfielder is needed, right? They could arrive, but not ahead of Rotherham tomorrow.
