Time to Say "Goodbye"!

Time to Say
With just 1 game to the end of the season, and Pompey already relegated to the dire of League 1, Michael Appleton should give the opportunity of a deserved farewell to 3 Pompey heroes in Kanu, Benjani and Mokoena.

It seems to me, and probably to many Pompey fans that there will be no 'high-profile' players at Fratton Park next season, and I am 100% convinced all 3 mentioned will not be part of Appy's League 1 resurrecting plan.

Appy has made it clear that he needs to re-build, and I cannot see any of these staying on at Fratton Park: "A lot needs to be changed. We can't cope with the wage structure we have at the minute and something has to give, so players have to leave."

In a way, I am pleased we were relegated with a game in hand rather then going down on the last day, as I truly believe Kanu, Benjani and Mokoena should be given the farewell they deserve. If we had to play for our lives against Forest, they would not have been involved at all. But it is a different situation now and I'd love to see them for the last time in a Pompey shirt.

Who wouldn't?

understand the sentiment that you share Malta but cannot say i agree. tbf to moko i think he is injuried, hence not playing. i will always appreciate kanu's cup final goal but would have much more respect for both him and benji if they had agreed to move on early so no i would not want to see them tomorrow tbh, would sooner see some that 'might' at least form our future...

Have to agree with Rug here, this should be used to give a run out to potential players next season, give some of the younger lads a chance

Why would kanu or mokoena leave they still have 12 months on over 10k a month ,, Unless we have cash too pay them off they will be here next season coz no club in their right mind will pay them anywhere near what we are

Vital View - League 2, 29th April 2017

Plymouth moved to the top - they'll battle with Doncaster & Portsmouth to be crowned Champions. It looks as if Hartlepool will join Leyton Orient in Non-League.

Video - Mansfield 0-1 Pompey

Well, it'll go down to the wire as Pompey's win at Mansfield means the Blues, third, can still win the title ahead of (now) leaders Plymouth and Doncaster.
