Chelsea v Pompey: The Lowdown

Chelsea v Pompey: The Lowdown
As you all know Pompey face Chel$ki in the FA Cup only days from now! This is an exciting fixture for the boys and the fans, as we go to Stamford Bridge to face one of the greatest English teams in the recent years.

Our chances of winning are slim but we are very lucky to have caught Chel$ki on a bad run. They've been winless in four of their last five games including a 1-1 draw to Wigan. This game comes at a desperate time for Chelsea who are currently struggling to get the right result and find a line up that fits their needs. This could be an advantage for us because it is likely they will start inexperienced youngsters against us expecting an easy win! On the other hand we are at one of our highest points in the season, coming off a 2-0 win against Watford which really could've been more like 5-0 and possibly discovering our permanent striker.

While Mata might be Chel$ki's "star" player at the moment he will likely sit this one out, therefore the Chelsea player to watch is Lampard. He scored Chelsea winning goal against Wolves and looks to get back his form. Futacs seems like he's the man to watch for Pompey after a consistent 2 goals in 2 games.

I did a little research on what Chel$ki fans thought their starting line up might be and I concluded that we could have a chance if we just shut Lampard down, breeze through Hutchinson and whip in high crosses to Futacs on counter attacks.

In my opinion a draw is a great result for us although a win seems out of reach we should still be optimistic of our odds of going through the next round, but that won't stop me from putting a couple of pounds down for a Chel$ki win on Frippy's Virtual Bookies!

Chelsea's possible starting line up (courtesy of my friend, a Chel$ki fan!): Turnbull, Bosingwa, Hutchinson, Luiz, Bertrand, Lampard, Mikel, McEachran, Malouda, Torres, Kalou

Pompey's possible starting line up: Henderson, TBH, Pearce, Rocha, Halford, Mullins, Erik, Norris, Lawrence, Futacs, Kitson

Predicted Scoreline: 1-1 Kalou 21', Futacs 62' (175/1 for that!)

Your Chelsea friend isn't a very good fan - Kalou is at the African Cup of Nations, while Mikel is injured and McEachran is about to go out on loan. A more likely line up will be: Turnball, Ferreira, JT, Luiz, Bertrand, Romeu, Meireles, Lamps, Malouda, Ramires and Torres.

This is as good as won for Chel$ki, Pompey better not turn up, no disrespect. We are on a bad run but we'll make it thru.

In fairness it's a no lose situation for us. We can concentrate on the championship, be it staying up & chelski its a run out for some of their 'lesser' known stars.

like the complacency shown by 'Juan10Mata'. See you Stamford Bridge on Sunday, I'll be in the noisy corner..

I'd quite like it to be Waitrose or Marks & Spencers; companies who aren't likely to sh@g us. And a shopping discount would be a bonus!

We know Danny you want to stay!

In case we had forgot Hollands has reminded us of his desire to stay with Pompey! I'm not 'desperate' either way in many ways but sorting this quickly would be best for all concerned.

Three more pre-season games announced

'Glamour ties' are loved but pre-season is about fitness and form so it doesn't matter if it's Barcelona or Bognor... Then again a trip to the Nou Camp wouldn't be turned down!

Sheffield United loanee open to Pompey return

McNulty would welcome a permanent transfer to Pompey. Although the Sheffield United striker could well be part of new manager Wilder's plans, so the chances seem 50:50 at best?
