Revived Playoff Hopes?

Revived Playoff Hopes?
After two impressive victories against Coventry and Burnley it is fairly safe to say that we are on quite a streak considering we are currently 16th, the place we finished last year.

So are playoffs still a realistic goal? Yes. Anything can happen in the Championship, despite sitting 10 places and 9 points from the playoffs it's totally possible.

We are less than halfway into the season, and who says it's impossible to finish first or for Southampton to get relegated? Its too early in the season to predict who will finish where, except of course we know Coventry will get relegated!

It might be too over confident to say we have a shot at Premier League but its good to be optimistic, for good outcomes come from the right attitude. We just have to get the right result and not play the same game we did against Watford, and take it one game at a time.

We could also look at it the other way, are we a team that's not worthy of Championship status? I personally think we are totally capable of finishing mid-table and it would an insult to the fans if we came up short and got relegated.

Also when the transfer window comes the whole league could change! I'm not expecting any big signings next transfer window, if we even can get an owner by that time! As for now lets focus on winning that South Coast Derby!

we may aswell aim high jsander, and i agree that alot can change pretty quickly in the nopower so i would 'never say never' to this happening, go on a nice little run between now and the xmas period and who knows where we could be
altho the priority at the moment is to still have a club come may - a new owner(s) is needed and with players 'likely' to go in the new year chances are appy will not have come february what he has now and will not be able to add much, if anything, either...

true rug but surely by playing well and getting up the league we enhance our chances of finding an owner (we might even get a creditable 1 this time... yea right) by then, so we don't have to have a fire sale, so really the only thing the manager/players/us can do is be positive and look upwards and not down...

10 pts from every 15 until the end of the season would be very respectable; suspect it won't be that easy though- 1 the points - 2 making the end of the season in the club current state. But as long as we win two specific games ....

If we can ship out kanu, Ben haim , mokoena , and maybe Lawrence . That would free up lots of cash on wages little fee for Lawrence . We could possibly get a few more loan signings in . That lot are not even playing anyway .

Would be nice but I don't think we've got a chance of making the play-offs. Main goal for the season is still to avoid relegation!! ;-)

Our main aim is to find a new owner & still have club. Avoid a points deduction & stay in this league. A few wins & we are all of sudden wanting to be in the prem again. To be honest, lovely as it is to win a few battles & desperate to win against the scum. We have be realistic about where now and that ain't great off the pitch.

Absolutely spot on Matt!...Day dream believers, Lets just get a sense of reality and get over the next couple of months first! Sorry to be damming, but I can't get my head around people who get carried away with 2 wins...reality beckons Sunday
13/12/2011 20:29:00
Well- I don't think a loss on Saturday is a forgone conclusion; to take Penton's point of view and give up before you start just seems daft. And whilst I dont think we should go overboard guve the manager some credit, it's 1 loss in 4 games; seems to me some need to get a grip chaps. The thing I worry about - owners are a given - id the poor efficiency of the strikers
13/12/2011 22:34:00
i agree with russellm i woouldnt count us out, to be honest when were on a streak, were on a streak but i think it is too overconfident to get excited over 2 successive wins, southamptons a good team i gotta give them credit, but since the game is at fratton park i say we do have a shot. well see on sunday! just gotta hope for the best
13/12/2011 23:23:00
Who said i'd given up Russ??????? Where did I mention I'd done that? Far from it! the real test lies on SUNDAY. We have to rely on the team realising just how important this is to the City....Unlike some, I just don't get carried away
