Kitson or Benjani?

Kitson or Benjani?
Well the results are in, and despite being on the receiving end of much criticism during his tenure here; Dave Kitson has proven to be the preferred option ahead of Benjani over who should lead the line.

It's the right decision in my opinion, as over the last few weeks, since his return from injury, the flame-haired striker has been much improved, and perhaps this is in part to the support he's had from Varney and Huseklepp, who between the 3 of them have score all of our goals at Fratton Park this season (except 1 from Norris).

Since returning to Pompey from Blackburn, Benjani has worked hard, and done well when called upon, but it's clear that he has lost a few yards of pace and his touch is letting him down more frequently. However, I do believe he can still do a job for us this season if called upon, and I wouldn't count him out just yet.

As for options outside of Benjani/Kitson: Some may disagree but I think that we need a strong/creative player up top. Varney is working well as a second striker/winger, and Huseklepp is doing a decent job in midfield, but I don't think these 2 up front together without Kitson/Benjani would be as effective. As options go, I believe that we should continue to line up with Kitson in the most advanced role.

I'm sure some of you will disagree, so feel free to share your opinions below.

What the poll asked: Who would you start up top?
Kitson: 57%
Benjani: 43%

Start the game with Kitson - bring Benji on halfway thru the 2nd half; it's clear he still frightens opposition defences .

As a Watford fan I would prefer to be up against Benji.. Kitson always plays well against us... He'll score if he plays..

2016-17 Pompey Player of the Year?

I think we've seen some very good performances from Pompey players this season with the consistency of them, unlike the Blues' form at times, unwavering.

That outside chance of Pompey winning the championship is still ON after a win over Cambridge and defeats for Doncaster and Plymouth's draw.
