'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Were/When did you/have you watched most PFC games?

I thought of this article to not only illustrate the time of our peak support but also to at a high level illustrate roughly the age 'Vital' readers.

I have entered some 'commentary' about what the results might mean and what they might illustrate. The question was Were/When did you/have you watched the most PFC games?

The results were:

1930's or before 6%. If accurate a great response, assuming the individuals were around 10 when they their first in for example game 1935 that makes them now 76 years old.

1940's 8%. If accurate a great response, assuming the individuals were around 10 when they their first in for example game 1935 that makes them now 66 years old.

1950's 1%. A very low figure, not sure about the accuracy of this one things have been much worse than they were in the 1950's.

1960's 4%. Another very low figure, more 'Vital' readers watched games in the 30's and 40's than in the 60's.

1970's 11%. My personal starting date which coincided with one of debt. John Deacon sold me a square of FP, not sure which one I expect it has gone now. He did not even ask me. The days of Billy Wilson, Eoin Hand, Peter Ellis and Norman Piper.

1980's 15%. Things were starting to look up and we were winning a bit more supporters came out to watch.

1990's 15%. Again things were going well which was reflected in attendances.

2000's 34%. Premier League, FA cup, UEFA cup heady days brought out 'new supporters'.

Only on TV 6%. We have to accept that not everyone is able to watch live.

Only at Wembley 0%. Like it, usual supporters got in.

Never 0%. This does not reflect badly on those who voted this way, it's just the way it is.

my pompey supporting life, as far as going to games, started in the late 90s.

I missed this one. I started in the mid 60's, probably saw most regularly in the 70's until I moved away in 76. Have lived all over since but still get to a few games a season, although more often away games these days. At least I can say I've seen it all - old 4th Div to Premiership, Wembley and Europe. PUP.

1974 until nowish. 1985-2010 seasons hardly missed a home game. Last season I put me & my life first so not so many games.
