'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What did our 10K Poll tell us?

I'd like to offer a slightly different take on the results below. I have roughly split the players up into their positions and then evaluated that against who we currently have in those positions. Plus there was some interesting 'trend polling', which I will cover in a moment.

Goalkeeper, only 5% of 'Vital' readers voted for England's No 1 Hart, so largely either we are not concerned about that one or you felt we had much weaker areas. Hart did peak at 9% I saw at one time but fell back.

Defence, interesting one although a low score again, Bale (scummer) did ok, but the rest again were poor so largely either we are not concerned about that, one or you felt we had much weaker areas. I though would I swap 'Mok of the week' for Cahill, Terry or Samba. Yes please, and oh dear England international Baines.

Wide Midfield again largely you are not concerned about that one or you felt we had much weaker areas. I think Young is 'slightly' stronger than we have but never mind. Young's score remained consistently low.

Centre Midfield I think we wanted Gerrard and Parker but not Barton. Both Gerrard and Parker grew and grew in popularity Barton did not, so we might want one of ours in instead. Not sure which one though?

Forwards, always top of the voting was Tevez, there was an interesting twist between Rooney and Carroll. They were both around the Score that Rooney finished with but right at the end, in injury time you could say Carroll added another 3%. As for Darren Bent less said soonest mended. For me those Tevez & Carroll or Nugent and Kitson, I think the poll probably got it right.

Carlos Tevez 26%
Steve Gerrard 19%
Scott Parker 12%
Andy Carroll 10%
Gareth Bale 8%
Wayne Rooney 7%
Joe Hart 5%
Gary Cahill 3%
John Terry 3%
Joey Barton 3%
Darren Bent 2%
Chris Samba 1%
Ashley Young 1%
Leighton Baines 0%

Strange how Rooney finished so low in the poll especially with the form he is in.

Me, I voted for Scotty Parker who could be player of the season.
