'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Well it was not a surprise really was it?

The winner of our who will manage our great VITAL side was Mr Harry Redknapp with 34% of the votes of the poll when all votes are in and counted. Not a surprise really (even if he will forever be tainted by some). Personally I have to admit to finding this a hard call.

Redknapp was manager of the club giving us some great times, Promotion, Premiership and of course the FA Cup. Many years ago I swore I would only go to Wembley if PFC got there I guess I had given up that dream when I watched the final England International at the old Wembley (I think against Italy where England lost 0-1) But I should have had more faith suddenly we were there so often it became like a home game.

Enough about all that, what is more interesting is the support from you for Alan Ball our manager who was told to sell Mick Kennedy even though we had just been promoted to the 1st Division. I ask this question how much more successful would he have been given the money that Harry Redknapp spent? Probably for me Harry Redknapp just about edged it but it was close.

It was also great to see both 'Uncle' Avram Grant and Steve Cotterill well supported they have both done good jobs under the hardest of working conditions. It is also interesting that a current Premiership manager Tony Pulis got 0% of votes.

So the result for Manager is below.

Harry Redknapp * 2 34%
Alan Ball * 2 29%
'Uncle' Avram Grant 16%
Steve Cotterill 12%
Jim Smith 3%
Steve Claridge 3%
Frank Burrows * A few 2%
Graham Rix 1%

So when put all this together with the team looking like below.

Goal Keeper James
Defence Primus, de Zeeuw, Blake, Taylor
Midfield Anderton, Diarra, Merson, Prosinecki
Forwards Todorov, Whittingham

With your bench consisting of Knight, Mendes, D'Alessandro, Kanu, Biley and Walsh.

With the Manager Harry Redknapp and the Chairman Milan Mandaric.

Which division do you think we would be at home in?

Thanks for all your help in creating this 'VITAL' team.

A rare response to this vote based on football other than prejudice. I commend you all.

tbf i can see why the voting went this way - based on what was won, and achieved, under redknapp's management it had to be him i guess.
altho i voted for ball because he genuinely did care wherever he was managing - to bridge that pompey-scum divide like he did takes something special. that day at palace when we got spanked 4-1, when a teary eyed squeaky bally had to plead with us to leave selhurst park installed him in my mind as one of the greatest people ever to walk the earth. so, perhaps my judgement was slightly clouded, along with the manor is which a certain mr redknapp departed etc...
