CVA, What happens if.......

In the event of a Promotion back to the PL at some point over the next five years I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 20p in the increases, am I dreaming?

I hope so as depending on the increase there is a sound financial reason to stay where we are can anyone help me with the answer?

I'd like to know what sound financial reason there would be not to be in the Premier League.

yea it definitely raises, i think is was about 25 or 30 pence if i remember right, so not much considering the extra tens of millions of pounds of income you get from tv rights etc! so no worries if we ever get back if anything we'd be far better off

It does rise and I have the papers somewhere but not with me.

I think from memory m@ is right at 25p and I have just found it 'if the new club qualifies for the Premier League creditors could receive a further 5p in the pound'

Sorry I was noy meaning to question about should we be there just if roughly 20p in the pound equals 22 million if it gets raised to say 40p in the pound that would mean we owe 44 million. General quote has said it is worth 60 million if you get into the PL which then ONLY

Sorry I'll finish that which only leaves 16 million, still hopefully we will get a new owner prepared to invest

Even if it was 22m another 5p is only a 25% increase so only another 5.5m over 4 years. So no your figures are miles too high and no it wouldn't cripple us.

I'm pretty sure it's a rise to 25p in the pound, this is a great return for creditors, I am looking at another business recovery ( 190mill) defect and the people there will be lucky to get 9p in the pound. The premier league money will pay off that amount and still leave the business with sufficient working capital. This is why in amongst my normal spouting off I've been saying a boing boing Pompey couple of years wouldn't go amiss. Get promoted, take the money, get relegated take the windfall, get promoted take the TV money then get relegated, the windfall derived will subsidise the club basic overheads for 5 years. This is how the Baggies have become cash rich but as they expect to be relegated then promoted they have med- low salary demands.but no debt, Pompey's CVA uplift is built on the same principal. Obviously, option 2 : discover brilliant unit and non nutty manager then get promoted stay promoted is the greatest method, however you then get forced to pick up the salary tag that goes with it. Still, model up either option, conclusion, it's more financially beneficial than staying in this league.

Money is in the prem, the extra payments would be a drop in the ocean.

The flipside of the debate is whether Pompey have the resources, the talent and the ambition is go up within the next five years..

I don't know, but I think this year was our best chance to go up, and we've blown it )or Chainrai has). Cos we had left over prem players still in the team and all we needed was a couple more players to compliment them. Next year, all our left over prem players will be gone (or most of them) and we have to start from scratch. We will never be able to afford the quality of some of the players we came down to the Championships with. Does that make sense?
