Get Portsmouth Back in the Chart!

Get Portsmouth Back in the Chart!
This is a campaign to get the tune 'Portsmouth' by Mike Oldfield to No. 1 or somewhere in the charts, ahead of Portsmouth FC's FA Cup Final clash with Chelsea. It reached Number 3 in the charts back in 1976, now its time with your help to get this back in the charts.

Pompey's magnificent against all odds victory in the FA Cup semi v Spurs was testimony to the passion and spirit of PORTSMOUTH - what a great way to celebrate this by getting the spine tingling awesome tune by Mike Oldfield to number 1.

IMPORTANT: Don't download the track until Monday 3rd May. If everyone downloads the single during that week it should hit the charts on Sunday 9th May, so it'll be in the charts come the Cup Final on Saturday 15th.

I will post the link to download the song in another article on May 3rd but before then, join the Facebook Groups here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=118248341519445&ref=mf.

Great idea, it was nice joining the campaign to keep Cowell off of the Christmas number 1 spot, and this is a far more worthy cause!

Can this be done without having to join the scourge that is facebook- no offence to those who like this banal, vacuous thing. Oooh look I've got 7 trillion friends. People who do these things should get their nudges and pokes preferably with something sharp and tipped with poison. Bah Humbug

Sorry folks i think this is a loser..I have the vinyl single and it will always remind me of the 4th division days of the park packed out with crowds of 17,000 to 23 000, and over 30 on one occasion at least. In the old pre computer days only certain outlets spread around the country would be examined to decide the chart. these were kept "Top Secret" so that the record companies would not do what you are in effect suggesting we do. There fore affecting the chart to support their artist.....i guess that wont be the case this time in our modern world, and we have a president with what happened last year with one of those NON reality crappy shows

If the profits go to Pompey I'll download it, but tbh I find the record really boring.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
