Derby day not important !!

Derby day not important !!
Well according to ARUNA DINDANE who says he can deal with losing to Southampton - as long as Portsmouth stay up.

The Ivory Coast striker insists staying in the Prem is far more important than FA Cup bragging rights. He said: "I do not know what Pompey v Saints means as I've only been here a few months.

"I hope I can score against Southampton but the league is all that matters not. I believe it is possible for us to stay up."

Past meetings between them and League One neighbours Saints have been hit by crowd trouble. Dozens of Portsmouth fans were arrested for hurling bricks at cars after a 1-0 win in 2004. Dindane added: "It is only football and we want it to be a good derby."

This bloke is insane how can beating scum not be important. We are almost certain to be relegated so I would be willing to beat the scum any day.

What's your thought ???? Dindane right or wrong

to be fair to dindane Football_Casual he did say that he has not been in the country long so 'did not understand' how much it meant, clearly premier league football means more to him - which i guess is fair enough. that said he MUST know of rivalries like us and scum, so all he has to do is think about them?
i tell you he WILL know how much it means come saturday tho...

Of course he knows of rivalries he's african! They mostly hate each other. This is a huge game whatever the circumstances of the club, perhaps given the circumstance an even bigger game. I'm sure though if we play like we can we will win, or atleast should win. Looking forward to good banter and a good game with a positive result. PUP!

Casual i thought excactly the same after reading it yesterday. The thing is O"Hara cant stand the bloke and his old man says some of the other players feel the same way,he turns up collecting a lot of money and doesnt give a toss in training either. He will be on more money as a premiership player than one who is in the championship so he is gonna want to stay up. Let Dindane have 15 minutes with a group of Pompey fans before the game on saturday then see what his attitude is like towards a south coast derby.

I can't see in the article where he actually says beating Southampton is not important, but I'd be inclined to agree that staying up is more important that a cup game, regardless of who we're playing. He's probably been somewhat misquoted anyway. I wouldn't worry as we're going to stuff them anyway!

And who says O'Hara can't stand Dindane? They seem to be getting on alright in this pic... ;-) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/11/article-0-0839D870000005DC-646_468x357.jpg

In that pic, he looks more like he wants to embrace Kanu instead.
