'If It's Football, It's Vital'

On the Verge of Greatness

Picture the scene, May Day on the sunny South Coast and Avram Grant and the players are carried off the pitch after the club's defeat of Wolves secures Premier League status for another year.

After lurching from one financial crisis to another, the club finish the season in more debt, but still alive thanks to short term loans from some very dubious sources at exorbitant interest rates.

The club's future is still in doubt, but that is forgotten in the euphoria of the Greatest Escape ever. Before May wins over Fulham, Stoke, Burnley, Birmingham, Hull, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton had seen Pompey slowly climb the table after looking doomed in January.

All this may seem very unlikely, particularly on the financial side, but we are still in the game and a win tonight at Fulham will let us think about the football for a change. It will give us something to build on and could be the start of stopping someone building on us.

Wellyit, you are right. Quite apart from the financial battle, there is a battle to be fought on the pitch, and how wonderful if we could climb out of the relegation zone. I feel sure we could then attract another buyer.

Battle to be fought on the pitch with a depleted below par squad. Let's hope they've got some character...

Fulham Nil - Pompey 3 tonight, This is the start of the fight back, Forget club finances- Forget the board, that will all sort itself out, Lets not waste our breath on that load of Scum. Transfer window is closed, end of specualtion, which means the players can concentrate, and with the African back and Ohara w ehave enough quality to rise through the table and dare I say itm but we wil be the Scu,mk in the FA cup and with a good draw for the 1/4 final we have a dream again, & we could be back at Wembly in r 5 weeks, Play up Pompey. I am so up for this Fulham game tonight, Im absolutely positive we are going to batter Fulham in submission, I hope the players are up for it too. Its going to be one hell of a come down if we lose this and i think I would have to consign myself to the fact Portsmouth will be relegated. Note to Avram and Coaches : Get them boys fired up ok! this is the big one.

Back to thinking about football - nice change eh! Three points would be great, I like 3-0 but who will score the goals? Settle for a fluke goal and 1-0.

We are not dead yet, we are not relegated yet, we need to get behind the players we have, recreate our famous atmosphere which is always at its best when we are facing a crisis. Remember the 3-1 win at Fulham when we had our last great escape, great day out. PUP

Well, if we can avoid administration then I believe we have a chance. I will be gutted to go down because of it.

I would like to be so positive. But we have been saying that this coming match is going to be the start of it a couple of weeks now. I really do believe that we will survive, but it just seems impossible! I do not really know when will we start. Maybe, you guys are so damn right, and tonight we will win! Oh, what a great feeling that would be! PuP

Anything we get before Feb 6th is out is a bonus... the battle starts after Feb 6th
