NO Basinas in Pompey's FA Cup plans?

NO Basinas in Pompey's FA Cup plans?
No squad news on the BBC but other sites are already publishing the squad for our FA Cup clash against Sunderland.

So Mr Grant is obviously not a fan of Vital Pompey - or at least he was one of the one's that voted against Basinas having a bigger role in midfield than his bench warming antics.

There appears to be no place for the ageing Greek who had a arguably MoTM performance against Coventry to help us through to the fourth round.

BBC are, however, reporting that Kaboul has had his toe lanced and Finnan has sorted out his calf problem to be available and in contention for a start. Oh... and there's some thought as to David James making a start.

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the veccccio poll recently concluded on Basinas, and also jim4pompey's thought too?

  • What the poll asked - Basinas to play regularly?

  • How you voted - Basinas has the creative touch and must play 77%, He is better than Mullins & Hughes 17%, Basinas is old but could do a job 4%, Basinas is ready for zimmer and the home 2%

You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

"Basinas is old but could do a job" is how I voted .. I don't think he can last 90 minutes but I have to agree his calmness on the ball and his vision is remarkably .. I'd either pay him from the start in a 442 or bring him on along with Utaka and/or Webber if need to unlock a defense as we did at Coventry .. Don't forget Bassinas provided both the crosses for our goals v Coventry

he must be off somewhere or have an injury if he aint in the squad because we havnt got many players left.

perhaps hes lining up pastures new, he'ld surely do a job for many teams in the bottom half, although not ours it seems

Grant is not immune to the odd tactical error, although I think it's more likely he is injured or off.

Mike I was just thinking the same thing. Picks his nose during team talks? The man is old (younger than me!!) by has class. We ain't got much class and we've got precious little form either. Get him on the bloody pitch

I always liked Basinas. Can't understand why he was hardly ever played. Still, he did better than Gekas I suppose.

In a somewhat odd move - admittedly he's not been involved that much - Pompey's former Chelsea & Walsall winger Milan Lalkovic has joined Ross County on loan.
