A Big Week For Pompey

A Big Week For Pompey
With the 4-0 loss to Benfica and 2-0 loss to Vitoria SC, Pompey aren't looking good for the new season.

This week is a massive week for Pompey, it's the week leading up to the last pre-season game and last chance to see any new players play for the blues before the season. Now we do have a 'whole month' to sign new players but the season only starts in 13 days with a home game against Fulham.

Also people may be saying with have two weeks to sign up some players, however if we sign players after the Rangers game, there is no way of seeing how they we perform for the blues before that first premiership game.

The likes of Zaki, Ghilas, Viduka, Hunt, Benjani, Nikola Kalinic, Frederic Piquionne and Poulsen have been linked with Pompey over the last few weeks and some have been reported to be very close to signing, with Zaki saying he will be at Fratton Park in the next 48 hours and Viduka close to signing a one year deal with Pompey. Pompey need to sign these players this week, not next week, where it could be too late for the likes of Kalinic (who maybe going to Blackburn).

Sort it out Pompey and sign players soon and quickly, I understand that it's a very stressful time at the club and that it's hard to be working for Pompey, but the solution is to sign players that are good and can play football. Please Pompey don't leave it too late otherwise by January transfer window, we could be bottom of the league and still have the same squad as we did in Portugal.

we certainly need something to happen, we need some positive moves - and signs - to help lift the morale... whilst we are cutting it very fine to start bringing players in, there is still time but they are not going to have much time to gel, which isnt good.
you are right tho Mad, this is going to be a big week for pompey - lets just hope its a big week in a good way!

Well....Morale is the thing we as fans need lifting, that's for sure. I'm still waiting for those 5 players that PS was on about after the takeover. Looking at some very good players apparently. Were we just looking or was that just another off the cuff remark...or both! PUP....no matter what happens...yeeehawwwww!

Perhaps if anything good has come out of last night it might be that the Chairman and Storrie (and Hart but he probably already knows) will have seen how bad it is and realised that they have to sign players and pronto! Go get Kallinic. Drive to where he is, buy him dinner and schmoze him into coming to Fratton before he signs on the dotted line at Ewood. And thats just for starters.

Also hearing Behaji might be on is way, after last nights performance this is no bad thing, but the message is a worrying one. Great article we must get some new blood in this week and fast to give the team a fighting chance. Typical Pompey luck with Finnan injury.....

I think Kalinec is a dead duck Tracy. Our one gem I think will be Zaki to be honest, he'll be a 'name' that all our hopes will be pinned on. It needs sorting for sure.. but I'm not convinced it is gonna to be... Not looking forward to the start of this season at all .. I'll be there week in week out as I always am .. but think we are in for a long hard slog... We are in a league of about 8 this year and it is the other 7 in it with us that we MUST take points from.. (home and away) Burnley, Brum, Wolves, Stoke, Hull, Wigan and West Ham.. A point against Sunderland or Fulham or Bolton or Blackburn this year will be a BONUS .. Still it's not over yet ! ..

I'd be amazed if we signed Kalinic now after what his agent said about Blackburn treating like a star. With an average to poor team, I always thought the Ginger One would pull something out of the bag, but Paul Hart . . . . . ? It's a shame for us to feel so low before the season actually starts but I feel that the last few years of hanging on have taken their toll and this might be 'The Year'. The Doctor is no fool but if he has no contingency, won't spend proper money, played safe with the managerial appointment, perceivers with dreadful trialists, hasn't employed a 'Brian Kidd', then he knows nothing about The Premier League and English football or the business of football (for good or ill) and by default is a fool. I'm sorry but until proved otherwise, The good Doctor is a fool and just to emphasise my feelings, I'll put it in capitals, 'THE DOCTOR IS A FOOL'.

Just a thought but Kalinic's agent may have said what he did to try and make pompey pay a higher figure upfront as Blackburn have supposedly offered. All will become clear next week.

Away day Blues

We can be brilliant one game and then woeful the next...usually after we've won (usually pretty well) at home but then we lose away, as we did at Blackpool.
