Al Fahim to become Pompey owner today?

As early as Tuesday morning, newspapers and internet sites are reporting that Al Fahim passed the Fit and Proper Test and is on the verge of buying Pompey.

If all this happens, this means that Pompey will start their new era 3 days before expected, and a few hours before Portsmouth play H&W in what should be the first Pompey match under new ownership. Would that see Crouch and Distin playing for us then? Probably yes, as if uncertainty was their main concern, uncertainty will no longer belong to PFC, at least for now.

Cracking news if this had to be true, which I have a great feeling that it is. From now on, at least in these coming weeks, we can finally get a hand in the transfer market and start getting in new players for this season. Who knows, despite reports that Hart will remain in charge, may well not be our manager for too long.

We have always said that nothing official can be done before Al Fahim is Portsmouth's owner. So is it time to start breathing again? Well, I guess it is time...to start living once again.

As far as managers/transfers is concerned we've got to wait and see. All this boring negative rubbish on some of these sites has bored me to tears over the last few weeks. No one really knows until the man speaks about what his vision is...until then its all idle speculation that I bet is 90% fantasy.

so important you both said it twice :-)
totally agree Darren lets just see what Dr SAF has planned - assuming, as i expect it will, all goes through - lets give him a chance to show what he can do, if nothing else this 'should' at least save us from something that looked, very, very bad for our future! lets see what he has planned and take it, and back him and PFC, from there. oh and welcome if this is for the first time on vital pompey by the way?
pompeyrug
its seems we are less popular than Wimbledon of old and Millwall rolled into one, but it looks like we will still be skint....crouch has gone to spurs distan is already at avfc-dont kid yerself..relagation beckons...
plymouth graham
come on graham what's the point in even playing this season if the towel has been thrown in... we were skint anyway, more than skint, at least - so long as a price can finally be agreed - we can at least look forward somewhat knowing our future is secure? skint does not mean disaster does it!
pompeyrug
lets all pray it happens today, i cant take the wait anymore!

Still won't believe it until I see it officially and the rumours are still coming out that although he has passed the F&PP test a number of backers have pulled out because they wanted to remain annonymous.. yeah right like it wasn't known that they had to be disclosed - If we knew that surely they did ! .. If the takeover is confirmed as true I guess we will now know whether it was Crouch or the club that wanted him to go .. my beating is 'still' on Crouch wanting out and whatever the outcome today I still think he'll go .. Great loyality Peter !.. Oh well today could be interesting but I bet we don't get the news that it's time to party just yet .. If there is a party at all. .. All we can do it wait..
Chix
it occurred to me that SAF ay just be genius, and leaked dubious reports to press himself,
plymouth graham
We sometimes forget that a few short years ago we were a struggling 2nd division side under John Gregory, flat broke, no future and putting players up for a pound. The stability of the club is vital. I have every faith that even though we wont be able to buy the Tevez's/Adabayor's of this world next week that club will get stronger and stronger with this takeover and that qaulity of player will be possible soon. Negative comments from guys like plymouth graham are a complete waste of time. Get behind the takeover, embrace whoever the manager is going to be and roar the boys on every week....we are a 1000 times luckier than most clubs out there.
DarrenOZ
At last and hopefully some positivity. I still don't believe much investment will be made on the playing side this season but at least we are still playing which is a bonus!
bluedr
Does anyone know of any websites that show which agents act for which players?

The deal will be confirmed once Crouch has been sold by 'Sasha'. Once he has got his 12m to add to the 18 from the Johnson deal then SAF will be announced as the the new owner. The guy doesn't want to leave Pompey he is being forced into going as Sasha is asset stripping to get his 30m back. Crouch will be at Fulham or Spurs by the end of the day I reckon, and it wouldn't surprise me if SAF is at Havant ......alright maybe not at Havant but announced either tonight or in the morning
blarmy
I wish Crouch all the best if he's on his way. He did a pretty good job last year but I reckon we have a player or two lined up who will do and even better job.
DarrenOZ
blarmy, completely agree with you and said the same on another article yesterday. PC gone = PFC SOLD

lots of speculation, i won't get excited about it until it's actually announced and we've started building for the season, there's been far too much C**p spouted as supposed news in the last 2 months. Assuming that it is announced do we think a certain mr Custiss will be looking for a new job? He shouldn't bother applying for the press officers position at Pompey thats for sure.
Steve C
Well The Quay were the first to say that it would be in the next 24 hours, and it does coinside with the launch of the new kit. Perhaps they have brought the date forward knowing that there is unrest in the fans and perhaps they are planning a protest tonight? I will be one happier person when it is all done and dusted and we can get back to just transfers and looking forward to the next season.

SAF has been spotted having breakfast in the heroin .. hes on the beers already getting ready for tonite..

Crouch doesn't want to leave Pompey.. ???? Is that why he said he was finding it difficult to stay with a club who would be in a relegation battle in the forthcoming season - I don't see why everybody is backing Crouch on this HE publicly stated he didn't want to be around a club that sold it's best player - Crouch is still smarting at Redknapp leaving.. Get's no respect whatsoever from me (since May) Good luck to him for sure, but let's not make out this is all Pompey's doing ..

The takeover may be completed soon, but the FA said only yesterday thet the F&P was progressing, but they couldn't say when it would be finished. I'll only believe it when it's announced officially by ALL the relevant parties. We accuse the SUN of making up stories - and then when they write today's article we all believe it - daft! PUP

The more I hear of this, the more I can't help but think that Gaydamak hasn't given a monkies about the club for ages now. He has clearly been asset stripping to get his money out (or his dad's?) and as a result it seems the bank now faced with little left of value at the club want their money back. Gaydamak's actions appear to have put us close to administration. If SAF does buy us and stands by us through this, then he deserves praise from every corner of the island as this hasn't been made easy for him. Especially if it is true that some of his investors have been scared off. Just hope it goes through now. Skint or not, at least we wouldn't be on minus points.

latest from arabianbusiness.com...

http://www.arabianbusiness.com/562580-exclusive-portsmouth-fc-deal
Sulaiman Al Fahim has completed his takeover of Portsmouth Football Club.

Arabian Business understands the English Premier League has given his takeover bid its approval and that Al Fahim will officially become chairman of the club later Tuesday.

An official announcement will be made by the club at around 10am UK time on Tuesday.

Al Fahim first signed a deal to take over the club on May 27.

Agree with Chix, Crouch can get lost as far as i'm concerned. I want players who will fight for this club!

i think for 'some' reason when you press 'refresh' or 'F5' after making a comment on a 'vital pompey members corner article' it reposts your comment, not sure why, i think i need to get this looked into...

Sorry Graham, whilst you're entitled to you opinion, I think this negativity is such a loads of *********. Everyone is trying to second guess what will happen - to listen to some people it's like they actually want it to go tits up.

Sky sports now reporting the fit and proper persons test passed with a quote from the premier league. As for Crouch if he stayed and that's very doubtfull he would fight for the club. He's on record as saying he didn't want to leave earlier in the takeover process but he was very disturbed by the way things were shaping up. He's no different to any other player he wants success and you won't get that selling the best players in a side unless you replace them with simialr or better quality.
Steve C
Just watching Sky Sports who announce officially that SAF has passed fit & Proper test. Whilst we don't know what SAF's plans are yet, why all the negative comments. As I have said many times on this forum, if he is a clever bloke why would he buy a PLFC and allow it to be relegated. No business sense in that. If we are going to criticise him lets hear what he has to say first. Until then we are behaving like the press. The timing of the takeover isn't ideal we all accept that. However, SAF getting if now, rather than leaving in Gaydamaks assett stripping hands, is very positive. Good riddance to Gaydamak I say, he isn't a man of his word and has left a very sour taste in my mouth. Lets give SAF a chance, before we hang him out to dry.
Mike1954
the premier leage just comfirmed it on skysports! great news and hopefully we will buy some players."Based on the information provided the league has found no reason why Mr Al Fahim would be liable to be disqualified as a director of a Premier League club. "Accordingly we have advised Portsmouth FC that his appointment may proceed. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11674_5446050,00.html

this guy is a clever bloke - why would he buy us, with all our debt, without any players, if he wasn't going to make the necessery investments to keep us in the premiership. If he wanted a championship club, he would have bought newcastle.
pompeycarpet
It's all done and on the Pompey Official web site! Oh happy days! I haven't been this happy May 2008:-)
L L Blue
True Blarmy... Crouch might be forced as Sascha just want to take hi share. But others will be lined up.
Pompey Malta
Thanks pompeycarpet for your support. I wonder if Mike Ashley would have passed the extended fit & proper test now?
Mike1954
Oh happy day. Praise be to whoever, glad we got our man. I can look forward to football again!!!!
