Pompey talk with PompeyFcMad

Pompey talk with PompeyFcMad
Vital Pompey has previously brought you the 'knowing me knowing you series' - which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email - and we had the 'talking Pompey with' series last summer, this now returns under a new name and some fresh questions as 'Pompey talk with'...

PompeyFcMad was asked 6 questions about the 2008/09 season and what the hopes are for the 2009/10, one and indeed our future, is.

This is what they said...

  • So, sum up the 2008/09 season in 3 words?
    Frustrating, Disappointing, Surprise.

  • Suddenly things seem 'a lot brighter' for Pompey with Dr SAF taking over - what are your hopes/aspirations under the new ownership? Assuming everything goes through!
Hope we get new stadium (even though I would hate to move from Fratton Park) and also a new training ground. And hope also over the next few years the doc can bring in some big names.

  • Which players - that we could realistically sign - would you like to see arrive this summer?
I think Pompey should sign Eidur Gudjohnsen, he's a great striker and i think would form a great partnership up front with Peter Crouch. I would of also like Pompey to of signed Javier Saviola, but he has gone to Benfica.

  • If you had to select 1 player to 'sell' or 'release' this summer who would it be and why?
Hayden Mullins, he wasn't very good last season was he? When we signed him i thought he would be a good player, but i was wrong. I don't understand why Pompey kept playing him.

  • What are you hoping for from Pompey in the 2009/10 season?
Hope for a much better season than last of course. Also hope we qualify for Europe again, top 10 finish and also another trophy, which i would like to be the league cup.

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make during that season?
I hope to make as much as I can, hopefully all the home FA Cup and League cup games and maybe between 5-10 Prem games. I know that I will be probably getting all the Programmes though and hope to get loads of autographs. As even if I'm not going to the game I usually buy and Programme and get it signed by most of the players before a match.

Thanks to PompeyFcMad for answering these.

Totally agree on Mullins, he was a great disappointment. Maybe soon we can move on from his level of player.

I totally agree about Mullins. I hoped he will be a good signing, especially since our season was going from bad to worse those days, but the lad did everything to prove me, you and many others WRONG!

    No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

    Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

    Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
