Here's a thought...
We've all been speculating about what sold Pompey to the Doc but nobody seems to have made much of the fact that we jetted off to Dubai for a mid-season training camp just a few months ago! I have a hunch that a bit of a deal was brewing even then.
In fact pompeyrug somewhat jokingly suggested this might happen in an article dated March 2nd entitled "Dubai here we come - find a buyer guys..."
We all laughed at the time but I have a sneaky suspicion that this might ACTUALLY have been what happened!
So, am I onto something?! Or has somebody already mentioned this?

I remember reading somewhere that Storrie first made contact with the Dr's people in February and they met up in March. So you could be right.

Good point but as someone who gets out there frequently I can tell you we were on well kmown and on the box quite cos of Kanu, Diarra, Sulley and the atmosphere but mostly for a reputation for good open footy which OKI took good advertising from.

nope, cannot claim that i did... of course the 'hope', even in jest, was there that we could impress our guests when out there and i would think we did as we got actively involved in the community, behaved ourselves and sold the club well, so it must have helped.

Hmmm. Good point mate. Well, some time ago Malta's best newspaper mentioned that Pompey might come to Malta for a pre-season training camp and if this is true, it is a pity as I would have bougt Pompey myself....

Good connection Ziggstix I remember the article but thought it would be more to do with setting up a pre-season tournamant or somethng.. seems you could be onto something..
