The Pompey view from Basra - Part 2

The Pompey view from Basra - Part 2
It's been so quiet here for the past 2 weeks. The bombs have stopped coming in (touch wood) so it's just like working as usual but still hot and dusty!!

The things I had to do just to be able to watch the match as well!! I was supposed to be on a course, which started at 0730 and was finishing at 5. With the 2 hour time difference, at 1pm the anticipation from myself was too much so I ended up walking out of the course at 1330 and went to the office so I could watch the match. From when it kicked off to the end, any people that came in were left to the other people in the office to deal with, as I had to watch the match (no matter how boring it was!!)

In the office, we have a Villa fan, a Rangers fan and the token Man Utd fan and they all wanted West Brom to win (don't understand from the Villa fan!!). They were trying to put me off and the Sergeant (the boss and Rangers Fan) was trying to give me jobs to do!! But to no avail, I just asked one of the others to do it!!

So to the Final we come. I am so excited that I will see Pompey play a major final. As the case is at the moment, I am trying to use the 72 hrs that we usually have off to go to Kuwait, to fly back to England to either, go to the final itself or watch it in a pub so I can get the atmosphere of it. Of course people think I'm mad but I think it'll be worth it.

The good news is that the Foam FA Cups and Hands arrived (the day after the Semi Final) and I am now taking small donations for charity and aiming to make quite a bit whilst I am out here. Needless to say PFC have again come to my aid, by donating me 2 VIP tickets to a match against a top 4 team next season. Bidding wars are going on and the price so far is at £350!! Am writing off to other clubs but don't expect to get as much as PFC. Worked out that in total they have donated close to £1500 to this cause!! Good on PFC!!

The photos are being taken next week of the PFC fans out here with the hands and cups, so these should hopefully be on Soccer AM, in Nuts and Zoo and PFC have asked for some copies so hopefully they will get into the match programme. If anyone does see them in there and can keep a copy back for me that would be great.

PFC getting to the final has every Pompey fan in Iraq awaiting the match just wanting it to happen, and has boosted the morale no wonders for us all. If I do indeed get back for the final then it would be good to meet all of you that have sent us these kind messages and hopefully we can all have a drink to celebrate a fine moment in PFC history.

So from sunny Basra here's to Pompey and I did in fact raise a can of Fanta to it!!!

Play Up Pompey!!
