Pompey came home from Plymouth with another hard earned point, mainly thanks to another fine finish from Jed Wallace, you have to admit that he is the man you want the ball to land to when it's loose in the box right now.
Pompey made a slow start to this game, Plymouth were playing with wing backs and took Pompey a while to come to terms with extra man in midfield, the aptly named Nelson gave us a let off early on by heading well wide when unmarked.
Pompey seemed to weathering the storm and gaining a foothold in the game, Marquis blazed over the bar from a good position and our football was coming together, Agyemang in particular muscling out a few opportunities.
But Pompey 's Achilles heel is always likely to show itself, our defensive frailties are well documented, this time it was Moutoakil who committed the sin, a hopeful cross came to him and he gad time and space to clear, he inexplicably managed to chest the ball behind himself straight to Houlahane however, the Plymouth captain volleying home without a second invitation.
Pompey looked shell shocked once more, yet another goal had been conceded by the sloppiest of defending.
The goal though did however sting Pompey into their best spell of the match, Wallace volleyed narrowly wide and Marquis almost stole in, the keeper recovering well to make a last ditch block.
Wallace though hit his fourth of the season, he doesn't get many tap ins, this one was nothing of the sort either, the ball broke to him in the box, instead of lashing at it like Marquis had earlier, he took a touch and hit it with the outside of his boot into the net, a quality strike.
Agyemang nearly put him in again before half time, his ball though had a little too much weight on it.
Pompey started much the better of the two teams in the second half, we had much of the possession without really carving out a clear cut opportunity, a couple of corners were headed over and a couple of shots dealt with, but the match was settling into a midfield stalemate, John Sheridan made a couple of attacking substitutions, neither player though could influence the game, Whittingham was happy with what he had on the pitch though, Barcham who looked our most attacking option sat in the dug out and the men on the pitch ground out the draw.
Still, 3 games undefeated and 4 points out of six is an improvement, two quick games at home are next, another couple of decent score lines and Pompey can maybe start looking up the table.
