Pompey's hell run ends at last

Coventry City
1 - 1
Pompey

Ricoh Arena

24/11/12 15:00

Attendance: 11295

Referee:

Pompey finally ended a run of 7 straight league defeats with a somewhat lucky draw at Coventry. It seemed the sky blues were set to take all three points as they were team that threatened more over the course of the game, however a late late McLeod finish stole Pompey a well needed point at Guy Whittingham's first point since he took control of the team. Alex Cisak and Jake Jervis made their first appearances for the Blues but it seemed the glory went the way of Cisak as the on-loan Oldham keeper pulled off several good saves and denied City on numerous occasions. It again could of been a loss but Izale McLeod latched on to a long ball over the top of the defence to volley home 3 minutes into stoppage time and ended our losing run and gained him his 10th goal of the season. Pompey may have had some long-lost luck as 2 minutes from time City thought they had doubled their lead after Gary McSheffrey put the host one up on 41 minutes- David McGoldrick pounced on to a rebound after a McSheffrey hammered the post but was ruled out for offside. It seemed only a matter of time until Pompey found the net as the worry of Coventry grew larger with every passing minute and thankfully, us Pompey fans finally have something to cheer about.

Star Player

Alex Cisak is the name that has popped up as Pompey's man of the match. The debutant Pole made many decent saves and was unlucky not to have gained a clean sheet but he did a job that gained Whittingham's men a point and the 22-year-old has proved he is a steady man between the sticks.
