Pompey hit rock bottom

Pompey can at last look up, well they have to really, another defeat saw us slip to the bottom of the league for the first time this season.

The game itself was indicative of our season as a whole, a relatively sound defensive display, one lapse and and punished by the only of the game, as an attacking force we were pretty much non-existent.

One consistent as our season lurches from one low to another though are the fans, chants of "we are bottom of the league" and "let's pretend we've scored a goal" really do represent gallows humour at it's best.

Pompey decided to give Futacs a rest and went with Varney and Allan as the attacking influence, one big and noticable absentee was that of Ben Haim, where he is headed if anywhere is anyone's guess.

The game was a flat one to be honest, the goal which came form a Jason Roberts cross which landed right on Noel Hunt's bonce was the only effort on target, neither 'keeper has a great deal to do, Pompey not managing an effort at goal until well in to the second half.

Pompey have nestled nicely at the bottom of the pile now, Brighton are the next challenge on the horizon, but with teams around us picking up points now, the 12 remaining games will need someone to hit the goal trail, a new loanee is supposedly in the wings, he cannot arrive soon enough.
