Pompey slip to predictable defeat

Pompey slipped to their usual yuletide defeat, it has been well written that Pompey are absolutely khazi around this time of year, yesterday's performance also followed a predictable route, on top first half, then succumb to sucker-punch late goal to end empty-handed,

Liam Lawrence recovered well enough to start the game, Huseklepp replacing the now departed George Thorne, there was no Luke Varney in the squad.

Pompey had the best of a scrappy first half, Kitson headed over a corner to continue his drought, even worse was Liam Lawrence who headed a free header from 12 yards so wide the Millwall fans applauded him.

Millwall had the best chance of the half however, Trotter unable to make the most of a parried effort from Feeney.

Millwall made more of a game of it second half, Howard blasting in a free-kick that was well kept out, even closer was Marquis who lifted one over Henderson but wide of the post.

Huseklepp almost got a trademark curler in his last contribuition of a quiet match, his effort though didn't do enough, much like himself on the day.

The goal came in the last ten minutes, Trotter barging Mullins aside to knock down for N'Guessan to slot home, another late goal and another defeat.

Pompey lost another on the road to leave them still around the relegation places, it is obvious where we are short, up front with a regular goal scorer, what Appleton has at his disposal to do anything about it is anyone's guess.

Didn't go to the game but did follow via. text commentary on the BBC website. One shot on target from Norris, that was it! Kitson had one maybe two attempts... Of course off target. Kitson solo just doesn't produce goals! 4-4-2 please or replace the dead beats!

Saw the goal on sky & sometimes you get the foul on the defender & today we didn't. Obvious need to score to have a chance & as stated, 1 upfront doesn't help.

Is there one up front? I thought he was a midfielder lol It's like we play 4-6-0 sometimes!

Perhaps this is a bit of a hangover from the scummers game, when they gave their all. Tbh I'd prefer it this way round. But it doesn't sit well having a Pompey team that don't give 100% all the time, and lets hope it gets sorted out by the Leicester game.
