Attendance:
Pompey have been training only a week or so, but after a goalless first half against our local non-league neighbours, the second period was more than fruitful, 4 goals flew in the net, many more could of been notched if not for Ashmore in the Havant goal.
Pompey will be more than pleased with the contributions of their new men, Varney capped an energetic display with a volleyed goalnear the end, what was more promising was his fledgling partnership with Kitson, the Nugent/Kitson partnership never really fired, Kitson is much maligned at Fratton, but on this outing maybe his fortunes may take a lift, he too notched a goal, following up his initial effort to nonchantly slot home.
Greg Halford was the star of the first half, celebrating his new permenant deal he sprayed the ball from the back like Franz Beckenbauer, smashing the bar from 30 yards in the process. Pearce had a solid introduction, while Ben Haim made a return to Pompey colours, maybe a sign that his wages dispute is over? Another point of note was how much the Israeli has slimmed down.
Joel Ward was his ever running self, notching the first goal himself after latching on to a young Ryan Williams centre.
Hayden Mullins was next up, not one for a tap in, he blasted another screamer into the net, Varnet centering from the left.
Steve Cotterill will be more than happy with his teams first outing, Norris was all action as we hoped and a few of the youngsters did themselves no harm either.

if paddy gets injured hendo comes in. a youth keeper will be sub keeper at a push but the chances are an emergency loan could come in - if stretched this can happen at any time, even outside of transfer windows, for keepers so paddy and hendo are fine for me.
