Hawks clip Pompey wings

This is the dawning of a new era.
Well more a case of 'here comes the new boss, same as the old boss' in more ways than one, Paul Hart is now confirmed as manager, and Pompey reverted to type by throwing away a two goal cushion, a frailty that served us so well under Tony Adams.

To be fair, Pompey have been back in training a matter of days, we fielded a mixture of first teamers, young hopefuls and trialists hoping to catch the eye.

Pompey fielded two different sides, one for each half, the first half saw a line up of Begovic, Wilson, Kaboul, Distin, Bhasera (trialist), Basinas, Mullins, Hughes, Kranky, Ritchie, Nugent.
Most encouraging in the lie up was the sight of Sylvain Distin after the press had indicated he was on the verge of joining SPurs, Liverpool or Villa.

Pompey certainly showed many signs of rustiness (unease?) and were behind Havant with their match fitness, it was only in the second half when a new line up of Ashdown, Ward, Primus, Audel (trialist), Hurst, Mbamai, Diop, Bopp(trialist), Cowan-Hall, Subotic, Pancrate(trialist) took to the field, Bopp who Hart knew from his time at Forest was certainly catching the eye, not always for the right reasons, he scored two goals which obviously gets a big tick on the managers score board, but then played an awful ball to let the Hawks back in. Cowan-Hall sounded lively with plenty of pace, and Subotic sounded big, strong and er, cumbersome, not unlike Vincent Pericard when he was here.
The Hawks eventually played their way to an equaliser, and Paul Hart may have got a better idea of the task ahead, the heart has been ripped out of his team, especially with the imminent departure of Crouch, but if the trialists we had on display as tonight are as good as we can attract, he should get on his best suit and knock the new Chairmans door sharpish!

we should of never of let that 2-0 lead slip, we did tht many times last season.
It's only a friendly .. It'll be different once Henry, Drogba, Kaka and Ronaldo sign.. Give it time we've got money to splash around now so Paul Hart should go and spend big on somebody tomorrow.. somebody like .. er.. Eugene Bopp for instance he might not be good enough for Crewe but hey I'm sure he can manage the premiership .. Poor bloke somebody is winding him up surely.. Paul was Jeremy Beadle there tonight ?
to be brutally honest, that score line doesn't surprise me. The manor of it (letting a two goal lead slip) I could have even predicted. Lets see how ambitious al fahm is - or whether he minds if we are in the championship this time next year.
Early days yet this game doesn't mean anything and at least Bopp knows where the goal is so will be usefull for those coca cola games against Such giants as Darlington. We shouldn't jump to any conclusions from one game, I have witnessed many dreadfull pre season games; who can forget Oxford the season before last
Certainly, these new players who were trying to impress, willnot be signed. We need expierenced players who knows football. Come on Hart, get in some quality now.
Pompey Malta
Beadle was in goal for Havant Chix
good to see distin play, not that i guess it means 'that much', but at least he turned out! 'fingers crossed' i can see the mighty bopp in action on saturday, if not i will be *****ed off as that is the only reason i am going lol!
"who can forget Oxford the season before last " - I can Russ !
Beadle in goal for Havant Paul .. I knew the keepers name was Jeremy but had assumed his surname was Clarkson.. Still I live and learn.. By the way Paul who was the ref ?

Graham - That blog has been discredited so many times it's unture .. put is this way .. If I had a curl for every instance that I'd heard somebody fretting about this I've have a head full of pubes .. It claims he's only worth 38m ... Ok let's say he is .. does he not have backers waiting in the wings as he did with City ?? .. Don't panic at every Blog you read .. but trust me when I say the Germans are coming !!
Chix...sorry but I've just had a vision of your hair-do and I've just got to get it out of my head. Anyway, who are these Germans?
Whilst I don't think for one minute that anyone with just 38m would buy a football club, and I was warned not to expect too much in the way of purchases, I am absolutely shaken to hear we are trialling players like Bopp who aren't even wanted in League 2. However, I am remaining positive and patient and optimistic and hopeful in these very exciting times for our club.
o kchix m8 i trust you...even if you are jealous of my rather long and curly mane.....wot bloody germans

From 2000: Youth supremo Paul Hart tempted top German youngster to Forest Nottingham Forest have fought off the cream of European football to sign top German youngster Eugene Bopp. Bayern Munich prodigy Bopp was wanted by a host of clubs - but has pledged his future to Forest. The sixteen-year-old was persuaded to sign for Forest by the club's youth academy director, Paul Hart. Hart said: "We managed to convince him this is the right place to be, and this is testament to what this club is doing in terms of youth development. "He'a very mature lad who really wants to play for Nottingham Forest." Hmmm.
Let's hope he 'really wants to play for Pompey' now, Paul.
were not going to sign bopp...
What do you know, ruggers?
Whatever happens it won't be boring! It could be very frustrating & painful but never boring!!!
The Havant game was nothing more that a training work out - and a chance to have a look at some trialists. The first half was quite dull tbh, except that Lord Linvoy was standing a few yards away. The second half was more interesting not just because goals were scored, but they seemed more up for it. Kranjcar seemed to be playing upfront in the first half. Nuge got a nasty clatter from Jeremy Beadle and he did something similar last week against Brighton - chill out mate its only a friendly! I was worried when he was on the ground out cold, cos he might be the only striker we've got! Good to see big Papa back! And interesting to see the new home kit. It'll be more interesting when its got sponsorship on it. At least the keeper's shirts are green, not pink! Its a bit retro - in the same vein as the new England kit, and quite plain. I question the shade of blue, it seemed less Pompey royal blue and more chelski to me. Would like to see the away kits, but I expect it will be a week or so now while they get sponsorship sorted. Anyway overall not a bad night, nice to have footy back.
