Swindon 1 - Pompey 3

City Ground

Fri 18-07-08, 7.45pm

Attendance:

Swindon 1 - 3 Pompey

In tonight's second friendly fixture of the Pompey pre-season warm up the blues went up the M4 to play Swindon who they have not faced since 1999 at the County Ground.

Pompey started with a changed team of James, Lauren, Campbell, Pamarot, Hreidarsson, Mvuemba, Mendes, Diop, Hughes, Defoe and trialist OJ again.

For the first 35 minutes Swindon dominated the game and took the lead after Cox got very dubiously brought down in the box after 7. He took the penalty and scored past James.

On 35 minutes some lovely work from Herman and OJ put Herman through to deftly lift it over the keeper. OJ gets awarded his second penalty in two games after the keeper brings him down on 41 minutes. Defoe steps up and calmly puts it away.

Halftime Swindon 1 - 2 Portsmouth

The second half was rather dull, the only couple bits of excitement were that Crouch came on to make his debut partnering Sahar upfront, and the injury time goal for Pompey scored by Subotic after a great cross from Sahar.

Fulltime Swindon 1 - 3 Portsmouth

Positive notes: OJ looked very good again as did Sahar

Not so positive: A touch more sloppy defending, Crouch and Defoe both fairly quiet. Pamarot and Cranie both beaten far too easily.

PLAY UP POMPEY!

fair summary sneak, OJ certainly sounds a prospect, he seems more Lua than anything else, maybe he would be used as an impact sub?

What do we know about OJ?
Et_tu_Pompeii
Not much Et-tu oher than he was at the saint's academy.. Sneakay found a bit more info out the other night and rang the Quay with it but I can't for the life of me remember what is was he found out !.. A good run-out then for the lads and another games (or half for most of them) to get those fitness levels up...

Spoke to a couple of lads late last night who had been to the game. They thought it had been a very enjoyable game for pre-season and both sides had played with a positive attitude. Pedro had turned the game when Pompey were struggling by protecting his back four and it was good to see Crouch and his nice touches. The man of the match though was McNamee the Swindon left sided player who gave both Lauren and Crainie a tough time throughout.

Maybe we could swap Troare for this McNamee, we are bit short on the left?

Cheers Paul, I have to be honest and say I missed part of the first half as I hadto change computer and then rebootas well after i had just turned on.
OJ isa 19 year old Gambian player who was at Blackpool, and hen went to the Saints Accadamy. Guess he has grown out of them now.
Dave - your right McNamee sounded very dangerous all night aong with Cox giving our defence some real trouble.
sneakay
great game last night i was there beneath u lot as ball boy . Thought opening ten minutes we were struggling but after that we looked fine. Thing tony adams needs a bit more work on the defence as our mcnamee got passed lauren and craine every time and also simon cox kept getting around the defence. STORAGEMATT i would say swap but sorry cox or mcnamee is NOT for sale

No doubt we can negotiate something stfc. Traore, the use of swivel chair, electric bottle opener & some cash!!!!

danijel subotic will soon be scoring hat-tricks in front of the fratton end.

Who played in goal second half? Some sites say the American Dominic Cervis, the Quay said it was Begovic. My spies said the keeper made a couple of good saves but they were caused by poor positional sense.

I'm not sure if you all went, but did anyone see Subotic's passing during the half-time warm up! It was abysmal, I just hope he's not George Weah's cousin!!
