Exeter v Pompey

Pompey returned to half meaningful action tonight, little after a week after returning to pre-season training.

Pompey started with a trialist identified only as 'OJ' up front, the vital detectives came up with the possibility of this being an ex-scum academy player called Omar OJ Krumah, Oj certainly started lively, a close effoert with a header and then winning the penalty for Defoe to score.

The game seemed a low-key affair on the radio, Glen Little sounded lively on his debut, Defoe missed a couple of chances he would expect to score, but players like Mvuemba and Cranie got some time on the pitch, as did Davis and Mendes after many thought they would be off by now.

The second half saw James replaced by an un-named American in goal whose only contribution was to pick the ball out of the net! Nugent seemed lively and Ben Sahar missed a good opportunity to win it.

One sight all Pompey fans would of been pleased to see was Linvoy Primus back in Pompey blue, he came through unscathed and got in a welcome 45 mins, even if he did contribute to Rob Edwards goal!

Swindon beckons on Friday night, Crouchie may make his second debut then, and Pompey may find some rythym.

Good Points - More good saves from James, Defoe looked lively, OJ looked promising, Little - probably best player in first half, Sahar seemed to have some decent touches, Nugent was a pacey threat. Bad points - Linvoys error for their goal, American Goalie (maybe a bit harsh), overall we missed a few easy chances..... ramt over guys, thats just what i made from listening to the 90 mins on the quay... bring on Swindon...

That's pretty much as I heard it too Southport .. Great to see Linvoy back playing as as Pault says coming off without injury.. Glad to see the match reports back Pault.. and with the same speed and accuracy as always...

.. one point to mention five and half thousand attendence tonight and the Quay reckoned 2,000 were Pompey fans.. a great turn out for a friendly .... Maybe they are all on there way to see Rug !

Ok it was only Exeter but more performances like that and Little could be this years Hermann... made up to See Livoy back even though he understandably sounded a bit off the pace...

At last, I can post, nice to hear Linvoy got 45 minutes in apart from the error. Who is this OJ though, and was he playing up front or out wide. Anyways Vital Pompey a big hello from Bangkok from a BIG supporter PUP

The result is not that important, take the positives, build on it & move on. Great to have Linvoy back.

I have to admit that I pretty much lost interest in the second half, but from what I heard there were quite a few positives to be taken from the game. Plus I got mentioned on The Quay for my detective work!

i found it hard to take much interest at any stage as i did have 'a few' to drink prior... there were some plus points as mentioned, seeing linvoy return was fantastic - he will get rid of the cobwebs and best to make those rare errors in pre-seson!
OJ looked good, i reckon we will see him given another runout in pre-season.

Rug - how many times have I to tell you about pre-match drinking? Much more fun afterwards if you have the time.

pre-season is all about the drinking... which i guess means chixy is in a permanent state of 'pre-season training' :-)
by the way i still had time for a crafty drink after the game too!
