Pompey make the trip upto the Manchester suburbs once again, this time to fave Vernon Kayes' favourites, the Lilywhites.
Gary Megson has come out and said that he would like to have signed Jermain Defoe in the transfer window, you and about 15 other Premiership clubs Megson!
Matt Taylor and Andy O'brien both will have points to prove to Harry, O'brien has settled in up North, while Taylor is still finding his feet, his uncharacteristic penalty miss testament to that.
Pompey favourite El-Hadji-Diouf is available after Africa cup exploits, the phlegmy one may return upfront, but Helguson netted last week and may hold down his spot with Kevin Davies (he who played for them)
Gavin McCann may make a return, but Joey O'Brien is hamstrung.
Has found a bit of form since Little Sammy Lee went, he always seems to hit a spectacular 2 or 3 a season, and after a very peculiar performance at Fratton will be up for this one.
Papa Wop-bop-a-wop-a-wop-bam-boo, is available again along with John Utaka after both their countries early departures from The African cup, The Wardrobe will be looking to feed our new aquisition upfront, the bedside cabinet.
Sulley Muntari stays out in Ghana to play a pointless 3rd/4th place play-off. Kanu however may make a cameo appearance after his knee injury has been found not to be as bad as feared.
Sylvain Distins' pig-string is still not right and will miss out once again.
The Otter is back, he tore Bolton apart at Fratton, and after a somewhat subdued African exploit, will hopefully be firing on all cylinders, he has a new face to supply upfront after all!
Bolton have shored up a leaky defence by keeping 3 consecutive clean sheets, Pompeys' impressive away record has dipped off as of late, maybe something will give today? Not normally a happy hunting ground, but the odd success has been known!
Peter (John-boy) Walton
Whats it to be then? Will Pompey return to their away form of earlier, or will it be a new resolute Bolton we face? Have a punt here.
