A diversion from the league, and a goodbye to our Africans, Pompeys impressive away form is up against the equally impressive home form of Ipswich.
Sulley Muntari has gone on record in saying he wants to go out with a bang, as its the last time we will see him in a Pompey shirt in up to a month, I want fireworks!
Ipswich will be cast as the giantkillers in this one,but in the not too distant past it would have been roles reversed.
Alan Lee should return up front with Walters switching back to midfield.
Richard Naylor is the only absentee of note, Tommy Miller has completed his ban is available for the tie.
In the stand ther could be the familiar figure of Laurent Robert who is on trial with Town.
Old big nose will head away anything we launch at him, so we need to steer clear of the tactics we used against Middlesbrough, but on the deck it will be a different matter, Pompey have pace and this is where we can hurt the big man.
Hughes hopes to be fit after a hip injury, if he struggles to make it, it will be somewhat offset by the return of Mendes, although Davis is still a little behind.
Nugent may get a hankered after start at a level he is more than familiar with, and he does seem to like Ipswich!
The bench could make interesting reading, Taylor and Lauren have both been linked with moves away this week and may be kept away from the team sheet.
Sulley has stated himself that he is the one to watch in this one, last time he said that though he had a stinker up at Anfield!
A 1-0 win to Pompey was the last result 2 years back, our goal coming from the unfortunate Da Silva.
Mark Halsey
Pompey must be favourites to take away the unbeaten record, but any complacency and it will be straight back in our faces.
Sunderland next Sunday on the box
