Not Man u, Chelsea or even Ipswich on the menu just yet, but a return for Pompey against a League 1 team nonetheless, and one who will be hoping to build on last seasons play-off disappointment.
A newly sculptured Pompey will to take to the field on Saturday, Pompey have become the fourth biggest spenders in the Premiership so far, and an array of new and expensive talent will be out to show what they can do.
Some old faces obviously remain, but a couple of the new ones will be out to make their mark, two will be playing in England for the first time, and one striker will be making the step up to the Premiership with lofty ambitions, ambitions which he has placed in Harry Redknapps' hands.
Yeovil have a couple of new faces themselves on show, Marc Bircham, Lloyd Owusu and Jerahl Hughes, and Pompey's recent aquisition Martin Cranie will be returning a club he is more than familiar with, after 12 appearances on loan at Huish park last term.
The Canadian international comes after 5 years and 151 games for QPR, and 15 caps for the Canadians, not purest of pedigrees, but he has great experience at this level, and will be out to be the new engine room for the Glovers.
Linvoy, G O'N and Richard Hughes are likely absentees, all have had operations on respective injuries, and Saturday may be just too soon.
I could have picked any of the new boys, but Pompet don't sign a current England international very often, and Nuge will be hoping to get his Pompey career off to a flier.
Not much recent history here, in fact I'm at a loss to remember playing them!
Mike Hunt, Flangeford
Pompey will be looking for early assertion in their pre-season, but Yeovil won't be walkovers.
