Pompey vs. Liverpool

Fratton Park

28/4/07

15:00

Pompey v 'pool

Pompey are still in the Euro hunt after last week's point at Villa but games are running out fast and a win is needed if we are to join Liverpool in a Euro adventure next season.

Vital Quotes:

Liverpool are expected to rest a few of their more important players with next weeks titanic clash with Chelsea being a far bigger game for them.

Pompey Team News:

Sean Davis has recovered from the virus that put him out of the Villa clash, Mendes and Todorov remain absent, but Glen Johnson is fully fit and pushing for a starting berth.

Player to watch: Kanu

The goals aren't flowing as consistently since new year, but the big man can turn a game on its head in one moment of genius, I really feel he may break his duck in this clash.

Liverpool Team News:

Gerrard is a confirmed absentee, Reina and Carragher are likely to join him, fringe players like Dudek and Gonzalez and Fowler should get run-outs in their place.

Player to watch: Bellamy

The no-necked Welshman was absolutely class for Blackburn at Fratton last year, and although he is struggling to make an impression at Anfield, remains a goal threat in his quest to make the Euro-squad.

Match Facts & Stats

A couple of defeats at Fratton for Liverpool, even the prolific Richard Hughes has bagged one against them!!
Crouch and Fowler netted at Fratton last year with Koroman getting a late consolation for Pompey.

Ref Watch:

Steve Bennett of Orpington, Kent

Match Prediction:

Fully expect Pompey to go flat out for a win, the Euro dream is still within grasping distance, but defeat will see it disappear, beside the Fratton fans expect nothing less!

Next Fixtures:

Everton at Goodison
Arsenal at Fratton

If we can't beat this Liverpool outfit we will be hard pushed to again. They will definitely rest players so we have the opportunity to take the iniative. I would settle for a 1-0 win placing the high importance on the Everton match, which I feel will be somewhat harder.

Up & at 'em from the start as we did with the mancs & barcodes in our recent home wins. Play up Pompey.

The fans played a huge part in the win against Man United - the noise was incredible - let's hope everyone lifts their game for this clash !

I always felt this would be a 2-1 win, just as well I put money on this at 10-1...
