hornets v Pompey

Pompey will be looking to build on Saturday's stormer against United with a similar result against Watford at the other end of the Premiership.

Vital Quotes:

The fans will be hoping United's demise was not just a flash in the pan, but a return to pre-xmas form and the springboard for one final European push, although Pompey have already eclipsed their record points total in the Premiership there is still plenty to play for.

Watford Team News:

No great injury worries for Watford, Marlon King is out for the season, but its the form of a few players that is the worry for Boothroyd, both Henderson and Mahon were dragged off by half-time against 'Boro and Boothroyd may make a few changes in a match they have to win to have any hope of survival.

Player to watch: DeMerit

The big Yank scored down at Fratton earlier this season and has always stood to be counted in a turmulent season.

Pompey Team News:

Campbell may make a return, but remains doubtful, Lauren looks to have suffered a recurrence of his troublesome thigh problem and Gary O'Neil is also struggling after running about two marathons at Fratton. Pamarot should step in for Lauren, while Arnold Mvuemba will be on standby also.
Up front Harry may decide to freshen up his options with both Lua and Todorov champing at the bit.

Player to watch: Taylor

Looked full of goal threat again, and this is a man who scores in flurries, and in our last two games goals have come from the left-handed berth.

Match Facts & Stats

Late win down at Fratton gave Pompey the points at home.
Pompey have won two games in 2007 so far but form is on the up, Watford will fight to the end but to be fair have looked doomed since the pre-season injury to top scorer King.

Match Prediction:

Pompey win? You'd hope so after Saturday but it will be an almighty scrap.

Back to back wins for the first time in an age will be obtained today. Watford will not be easy but our confidence will be high after Saturday... We'll be sitting 7th by the time Everton kick off against Bolton just 1 point behind them and 3 behind Bolton... A draw between these two wouldn't be bad as then we could still catch both although a Bolton win is most likely better as will we really catch them anyway...

Fingers crossed!!! come on boys! with all these injuries some of the fringe guys should show what they can do (Mvuemba, Crunchy, Toddy etc)
CharlieChimes
tight, but i think we will pull through

In a previous article I asked the boys not to fck up & give us an 'After the Lords Mayor Show' performance. So what did we get... Dejan & Traore were awful. Kanu looked lazy at best & the less said about LL the better. Txs for ruining the enjoyment of beating MU. Gutted.

Pompey do what only Pompey can do - embarrass themselves, time and time again. Pure crap, poor performance. Can we end the season now?
TruePompeyBlue
Traore is dire, when he plays well he is average, Lua may as well write this season right off, the rest I will forgive, but this result just proves we were not ready for Europe anyway.
paultsmouth
nice to see Evertonmike become turncoat after one result
paultsmouth
Doesn't take much paultsmouth, it's the red side of town that tend to show a little more respect - the bluenoses don't even know how to spell such a word!
TruePompeyBlue
hate to say I told you so! when will we learn!
CharlieChimes
We should have known, this was always likely to happen... We were poor but let's give Watford some credit though, they played with the look of a team with no fear and nothing to lose... I'm still clinging to the European hopes but maybe we aren't ready so missing out wouldn't be so bad as I do have this worry that the turn around too quickly could be bad...
