Pompey vs. Cambridge

Fratton

16-8-14

15:00

Time for home comforts

Pompey open the home account in the league against new boys Cambridge, managed of course by old boy Richard Money.

Vital Quotes:

Money has stated that Pompey are promotion favourites, this is probably to try and shift the pressure on to a side already under great aspirations by the home crowd.
The U's beat Plymouth on the opening day, they also took Birmingham into extra team in the league cup on Tuesday evening, a solid return to life in the football league after an eight year sabbatical.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey have lost Poke to an Achilles injury, otherwise no fresh injury worries, Storey who went off on Tuesday with a migraine did his starting chances no damage with a well taken goal to beat Peterborough, whilst Alex Wynter has also recovered from his clash of heads. Player of the season Ricky Holmes is available after getting a full weeks training in.

Player to watch: Barcham

Had a stop start game last week, often beat his man but failed in his delivery, under real pressure to perform with Holmes waiting in the wings.

Cambridge Team News:

No announced injuries as such, although manager Money is keeping coy about the availability of players to his disposal.

Player to watch: Coulson

Popular player at Cambridge, lynchpin in the centre.

Match Facts & Stats

No league games since the early nineties, we have met in the cup twice with Pompey triumphing both times.

Really good game between two decent sides... Pompey deserved the win; great stuff! Hope it carries on like that.
Stupid sending off for Webster tho; luckily I didnt cost Pompey on this occasion but in private do not think AA will be happy at all!
