Rovers vs. Pompey

Ewood Park

24/2/07

Blackburn v Pompey

The Countries eyes may be on the Millenium Stadium tomorrow afternoon, but a far more important match will be taking place further up the British Isles.

Vital Quotes:

Back to the bread and butter of the Premiership for Rovers after their European adventure came to an end on Thursday, while Pompey will be looking to capatalise on Readings defeat at 'Boro and climb back up to sixth spot.

Rovers Team News:

Blackburn will be looking to pep up tired legs after the late week match in the UEFA cup, Samba will be eligible again, as will Mokena, Hughes may look to rest a couple of his more jaded players, with McCarthy in line for a deserved break

Player to watch: Gamst

Morten Gamst Pedersen, the bloke is sheer class and if he was English would be a dead cert for the left handed berth for England.

Pompey Team News:

Primus may make a quick return to the side if he can prove his fitness, Lauren is a definite absentee with a thigh tear. Up front Pompey have options all round with Kanu nicely rested, Lua back to full fitness, Benjani gunning for a starting place and Andy Cole's toe not as bad as first feared.

Player to watch: Kanu

The big Nigerian has looked a bit off the pace recently with the Christmas schedule playing havoc with his fitness levels, a sit on the bench against Man City and two weeks break will hopefully have him back firing on all cylinders and back to his early season form.

Match Facts & Stats

Not Pompey's favourite away ground, One win in fourteen visits not the best return.

Ref Watch:

Chris Foy

Match Prediction:

A lot will depend on how Blackburns European exploits have taken a toll on their players, going out will have given them a blow, and teams that play a European tie mid-week generally struggle in their next league fixture. I'll stick my neck out and predict a Pompey win.

Next Fixtures:

Easy home tie against that other team from Fulham.

with Everton winning, an away win could not come at a better time Pompey

If we paly 2 up front, have a real go at them from the first whistle we've a chance. Anything less or worse like at Wigan & we'll get beat. Option 1 please.

Everton's win last night in what looked a potentially tricky match for them saw them come through... We don't quite need to win today but we'll be in a very good position if we can... Blackburn are a good side so they will be tough to break down but think we'll just have enough to do so...

come on pompey this is a big game for us

dont agree ruggers we have to go into every game desperate to win, we have Chelsea next week and the following games dont get any easier. 442 and go for the win i say.... im not confident at all we will get it but hey you have to try, anyway i put £10 on us to win.
