The Blues are back of home soil for the first time since the New Year and it still seems that 2013 won't see a lot of improvement from Pompey. The next few weeks are going to see players leave but possibly, possibly a PST takeover with a few wins.... with Pompey, it's impossible to predict so lets prey it's fortune for us for once.
Whitty has called upon the Blues stricken squad to step up to the Blues requirements and give it all they've got. If we're going down, which seems increasingly unlikely, we need to see some effort from every player which clearly has been absent over recent months. Players like Jon Harley are showing what they will give but with him being left clubless after next week, it's the rest of the players jobs to step up to the pride and effort he shows.
Defending duo the Rock and Gyepes return this weekend after both missed last weeks televised defeat to Walsall. Gyepes future is somewhat uncertain at the moment but for now he has been signed for another month with the clause that he can leave if the right offer comes into place. Skipper Brian Howard is missing through a groin injury and it will be his last time watching as a Pompey player following the cost cutting at the club causing him to be released. Jon Harley will make his last appearance for the club today in what he describes as an 'emotional' affair which will see the player be largely missed. James Keane is fit to make his Pompey return after signing a loan deal from Elfsborg and David Connolly will make his first home appearance after signing from Them down the road. Dan Butler is included in the squad after being recalled from his loan spell with Havant and Waterlooville.
Harley is making his last Blues appearance and will definitely be giving his all. The ex-Chelsea full back was stunned to hear that his contract will not being renewed and he has hugely praised the club, and I will take this opportunity to thank him for his efforts on behalf of all Pompey fans.
County captain Neal Bishop is a doubt for the game this afternoon. His wife has just given birth and he may choose to remain in Nottingham with his new child. County are without Chris Iwelumo after he returned to Watford after his loan spell expired. 3 other players have departed Nottingham as Carl Regan and Tom Williams have been allowed to leave. Veteran fan favourite Lee Hughes as also left the club after signing for League 2 Port Vale. Andre Boucaud is available to play today after completing a permanent move from Luton Town. Both Jordan Stewart and Damion Stewart are out through suspension as both also negotiate new contracts.
County certainly have the upper hand over Pompey this season with two victories over the Blues already. A 3-0 victory at home and a 2-0 away cup win have seen the Magpies grab 5 goals over Pompey.
2-1. It's only a matter of time before Pompey secure 3 points again and woth the visitors hoax of missing players, it's a good opportunity to crush the travelling side. A goal from James Keane on his Pompey return is well on the cards for me aswell.
Pompey travel to fellow strugglers Scunthorpe United next week in search of a victory. Scunny are in poor form as well as the Blues and will prove to be a vital clash in the fight for survival.
