High flying Pompey travel to higher flying Stevenage tonight for what should be a cracking game at Broadhall Way. Pompey travel on the back of their 5th win of the season against Shrewsbury on Saturday and have now stretched their unbeaten run to 5 games. Stevenage however are also in good form. Sitting in second and fighting for their 3rd promotion in 4 years and are showing good signs of this with only 1 loss from 13 games. Just four points behind top spot Tranmere, they will certainly look for all 3 points against 11th placed Pompey.
'I'll do right thing for me' Is the headlines in todays POmpey papers. This come from Appy after speculation of him taking the managerial status at either Burnley or Bolton persists. Hopefully however, he makes the relieving desicion of staying down on the South Coast as he is much loved for his efforts through our struggling times.
The Boro welcome back Anthony Grant as he missed Saturday's victory away at MK Dons through suspension. Patrick Agyemang is still struggling to gain fitness after recieving a thigh injury but a possible debutant for Stevenage as Andy Iro is in contention after not making an appearence since signing in September. Lee Hills is still out with a thigh injury as is Don Cowan as he is out with a hamstring injury. Jon Ashton is also still sidelined after suffering an achilles injury which will see him miss a 5th consecutive game.
Lucas Akins is a big player for The Boro at the moment. His 5 goals and 2 assists have made him a crucial starting 11 player at Stevenage will look to utilise his power tonight against a good Pompey defence. The 23-year-old Englishmen is currently favoured playing on the wing and it seems as if it really is paying off for him.
Pompey welcome back Carl Dickinson after he signed a one month loan from Watford after a place emerged when Jordan Obita returned to Reading. Dicko was much loved at Fratton even if his performances weren't that great. He had that special something that made him a fan favourite and he looks set to recieve his second debut tonight, straight after signing yesterday. This subsequently comes after Adam Webster left for England under-18's duty. What with Harley not playing at his usual role, Dicko has the chance to impress. Darrell Russell is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
McLeod is well in form for Pompey at the moment with him emerging as the first stand out scorer in a Pompey team for a long time. His 9 goals in 15 appearences now see him top goal scorer in League 1 and he will seek to find the net again tonight after his double at the weekend. ALthough critised for his other abilites, Appy has stood by the 5'11 Englishmen and it has payed of especially with the partnership of Wes Thomas since is loan arrival from neighbours Bournemouth. His 3 goals in 6 games also see him as a man in form and hopefully he and McLeod can cluster a few goals tonight.
Only 1 game has ever been played with these two teams involved and it was only two years ago where Pompey won 2-1 in the League Cup round 1. A 100% record would look nice with a few more games played but it doesn't bother me if that's cut in half tonight as Stevenage are very strong, especially at home at the moment.

2-2 is what I could be happy with, well anything but a loss would do any Pompey fan I expect but 2-2 is what I think will be the final result. I'm not too worried about the performance as long as the result is there.
Pompey will be showed on the box on Monday night when they travel to Sheffield United for a 19:45 kick off. PUP!
