Pompey vs Crewe

Pompey entertain Crewe today in a highly anticipated match at Fratton Park. Pompey`s league form has picked up recently and also have the added bonus of a stand out striker for once in the form of Izale Mcleod who has 6 goals in 13 appearances. Crewe sit only two places above Pompey in the League table with only 1 extra point, Pompey however, will look for all 3 following Tuesday nights defeat to League 2 Wycombe in the JPT.

Vital Quotes: ''Won't approve' Chanrai'

Potentially great news coming out of the camp for Pompey as the Football League finally step in and deny Chanrai the chance to become Pompey`s owner. Portpin have to look at the devastating headline of "League 'won`t approve` Chanrai bid". This news comes after the behind the scenes report was finally publicised this week revealing Chanrai for what he really is... We`ll leave certain views on him, out of this though. Also, another boost for Pompey as new boy Akos Buzsaky has revealed he is eyeing a long-term future at Pompey following his comment "I could stay". This news altogether draws a sigh of relief from Pompey fans all over the land.

Pompey Team News:

Defensive worries for Pompey today as potentially 3 main men are out of the game. Mustapha Dumbuya is away on international duty for Sierra Leone and Darrell Russell is ruled out with a hamstring injury. Also, Lubmior Michalik has been deemed only 50/50 to make a start by Appleton after picking up a strain. But, on the bright side, Akos Buzsaky is in contention to make his league debut following his first appearance in Pompey`s Tuesday night defeat to Wycombe.

Player to watch: Akos Buzsaky

Creative midfielder Buzsaky maybe the missing piece of the jigsaw for the Blues as we have lacked a midfield dynamo for a long time. The Hungarian ace is looking for his first start in the league for Appy`s men and will hopefully get Pompey playing the good football we crave. After revealing his desire to stay beyond the New Year, Pompey can look forward to big things from the ex-QPR who played his last year of football in the Premier League.

Crewe Alexandra Team News:

Crewe are set to have a full squad travelling to the South-Coast today after Byron Moore and Abdul Osman return from injury. Both men have missed there last few games through ankle problems but are ready to return to action away from home today.

Player to watch: Max Clayton

Max Clayton looks to be the game winner currently in this Crewe side after scoring 4 goals and getting an assist through the course of this season. The 5`9 Englishman has come through the ranks in the Railway Men`s academy and is an important man in the Alexandra starting XI.

Match Facts & Stats

The Railway Men currently have the edge over the Blues throughout their game history and have won 6 of the 14 meetings of the two sides. Pompey have bagged 4 wins over the visitors and a further 4 games have ended in a draw.

Ref Watch:

George Harrison

Match Prediction:

I predict a 3-1 Pompey win today as the Blues are playing well and have had their boosts through the week. Hopefully, it will be Fortress Fratton once more and will continue to remain that throughout the course of the season. WIN OR LOSE UP THE BLUES!

Next Fixtures:

Pompey welcome a strong Shrewsbury side next weekend and hopefully, on the back of a win. The Shrews are currently two points behind Pompey just a position below ahead of today`s fixtures and will be hoping to catch Pompey out the next Saturday.

Well Crewe are a bit of a young mans academy and the play it on the floor, well that was the Dario Gradi way. Just hoping we gice a good account of ourselves, for my birthday game, my first of the season and bringing my daughter.
