Colchester v Pompey

Pompey bounce straight back into action tonight, hoping to build on good foundations from saturday.

The season curtain raiser is out the way, we got to see the brand new dawn, and most of us probably liked it too, those players will get a further chance to show their stuff tonight, boosted further still by the arrival of Obita and the international clearance of Liam Walker.

Colchester got off to a solid start also, grabbing a 0-0 at Preston.

Colchester have a doubt over Matt Heath who picked up a head wound at Preston, Eastman is waiting in the wings if he fails to make it, otherwise it looks like as you were.

He is in the veteran bracket now, I remember him mainly from his time at Palace although he has travelled far and wide since then, notably at Birmingham, I seem to remember him playing in the 4-1 home drubbing by Palace about 12 years mainly though.

Pompey are a million miles away from the position they were in this time last week a whole new team featured on saturday, now hopefully they have had a little time on the training pitch and in the gym to acquaint further.

It is likely to be an unchanged side but with Walker and Obita boosting the bench and options.

I know McLeod got the plaudits amongst the striker, but i thought Rodgers work rate and eye for a pass shone also, maybe this is his turn to shine.

Did you know Pompey have only beaten Colchester once? Ok, we have only met 6 times, but David Gregory netted twice on that day 32 years ago, other than that the U's have nicked a win 4 times against Pompey.
