Pompey travel to Yorkshire in what is now a relegation battle, but at least the future is clearer!

Last time we entered administration it was with a sense of fear and trepidation, this time however the future seems brighter, the past regimes stranglehold has loosened a little, we may face an uncertain future in terms of league stature, but we at least know the challenge ahead and what we need to do.

An old face has surfaced at Oakwell and may make his debut against Pompey, David Cotterill has been released by Swansea and has signed until the end of the season.

Bobby Hassel limped out of the midweek match and will miss this one, O'Brien though has recovered from his injury and is available.

Since the departure of Vaz Te the goals onus has shifted somewhat, O'Brien and Gray have that responsibility now.

With the smallest squad in the league pompey didn't need an injury crisis, the Ipswich defeat saw Halford and lawrence limp out of the match, both are rated doubtful fot this game, others are carrying knocks and niggles that would normally be rested, needs must though and they have to play on.

Kanu may make the bench after making progress from his back injury (probably rheumatism) to boost the numbers.

Been back to his best lately, had a poor first half hour against Ipswich but otherwise has been a lynchpin with pearce.

Pompey have a decent record against Barnsley, 20 wins to 13 defeats, the latest being the 2-0 win at Fratton back in October, neither scorer are fit for this one though!
