Birmingham vs. Pompey

St Andrews

Birmingham v Pompey

Sorry to start in such negative fashion, but with the clock ticking then we go into the game with Birmingham tonight that one step closer to our, potentially, final game as Portsmouth Football Club in this guise...

All the more reason to enjoy eh so whatever, even if it is not as bigger following as we took to our last away game, you can rest assured that the Pompey faithful will roar us on tonight!

Vital Quotes:

Birmingham are on an awesome run of form, our away record is 'poor' - to say the least - although we won our last game 3-0 at Peterborough. With all due respect to Posh though Brum are a much tougher proposition and they will not be as charitable defensively will they!

Could we have the advantage of not playing a couple of days ago when they did?

How fresh are our players after a weekend off, time will tell...

Birmingham Team News:

Nikola Zigic - knee - needs a fitness test but from the sounds of it only the decision to 'rest' players is the only dilemma that Chris Hughton is really faced with?
who injured a knee after scoring his fourth goal at Leeds.

Player to watch: Nikola Zigic

This all assumes he if fit!

Is this not the same giant striker that we once laughed off signing because he was so sh...rubbish?

Well, he seems to have turned his Brum career around from the looks of it to become one of their main men - then again I do not pay as much attention to clubs, other than ours, as I used to so could be wrong!

Pompey Team News:

Aaron Mokoena - hamstring - is out but other than Chuck - suspension - we have no other problems, player wise anyway apart from Luke Varney. I think he would have probably missed out after minor surgery anyway.

Rocha John Rocha and Dave Kitson - illness - are both fine.

Player to watch: Stephen Henderson

He has been pretty vocal since the transfer window shut and has started talking about play-off positions! A bit optimistic, although if this club survives, we manage to stave off administration again and if we can go on a good run this month then he could be right...

Hendo will be a busy man tonight though methinks, if he is at his best we have a chance.

Match Facts & Stats

In 94 previous meetings in total Birmingham hold a 41-28 lead, with 25 draws. League wise though it is 37-24, again in the Brummie favour of course

The last meeting came in March 2010 with us losing 2-1 at Fratton, the meeting before that was a 2-0 Fratton win, literally days before, in the FA cup quarter final.

Ref Watch:

Eli Morling, birthday boy!

Match Prediction:

I think most of us would accept a point no questions asked, but what are your true expectations?

Next Fixtures:

On the road again, Blackpool is where we pitch up next - the seaside is not so nice in the winter months though...

Yes, there's a match tonight! I've spent the last half hour getting absorbed in the doom and gloom I almost forgot. PLAY UP POMPEY!
