After another eventful and soap style week off the pitch, it's back to business on the grass side once more.
JC as predicted has swanned off to one of his unbuilt underwater casinos, anyone who could see through the first very thin layer of bull's waste could predict this one, hopefully someone with real intent is lurking beheind the scenes, until then its ploddy ploddy forward in another season of unrest.
Just four years ago this was to be an FA cup final fixture, since then both teams have been in the high court fighting the taxman, one has obviously come out of it far better than the other!
Cardiff are having another fine season, the top has eluded them so far, but they cling to the promotion coat tails still in with a shout of the big prize.
Cardiff hace a few injury problems, Gestede and Earnshaw both have knocks in the strike department, Earnshaw looks most likely to make the game but does have a muscle strain to worry about.
Full-back McNaughton is again struggling with another strain in an injury filled season, he looks like missing out also.
Peter Whittingham was high on Pompey's shopping list in the summer, he is one of the top players outside the top flight.
Pompey have worries all over the place, Norris is banned for 3 games while Mullins and Mokoena both picked up knocks against West Ham, Rocha and Varney are both close to fitness but may not be rushed back.
Webster could well feature again in this one, the Witterings lad has debuted now, Magri is another youth product who could well be on the bench.
He has been a rock all season, Ipswich are trying for both his and Ward's services, with a carousel of defensive partners, he has been a constant.
1-1 at Fratton with Kanu netting his only goal of the season, he was the winner the last time Pompey beat the Welshmen back on 17th May 2008.
Kevin Friend (only kidding!!)
