Burnley vs. Pompey

Pompey look for maiden away win. Again!

Pompey are up against a couple of faces that if reports are to be believed, could of been with us by now.

Vital Quotes:

One of course is Eddie Howe whose name was heavily bandied around when Cotterill departed, the other is Martin Paterson, he was well chased by SC during close season, his non-arrival was then followed by an injury that has kept him out since then.

Burnley have turned around an alarming slide, 4 straight defeats have been followed by 3 straight wins.

Pompey of course are on a decent run at home, but absolutely shocking away from the south coast, 3 points is all we boast coming up to Xmas, not impressive by a long old chalk.

Burnley Team News:

Burnley have both Pateron and Charlie Austin available to boost attacking options, with Jay Rodriguez and Sam Vokes in impressive form they will both have to be content with spots on the bench.

Player to watch: Vokes

Ex-Bournemouth man has scored in his last 2 games, the latest being the winner at Upton park.

Pompey Team News:

Pompey are highly likely to be unchanged once more, the bench may well be boosted by club captain Lawrence who has finally shaken off a calf injury, Luke Varney is most likely to force his way into the first 11, he was impressive after coming on against Coventry, if he does make it, who would make way?

Player to watch: Ward

Man of the match last week, if Lawrence is fit, he looks the most likely to give way, if he plays like last week however, how can you leave him out?

Match Facts & Stats

A draw and loss last season ended a run of 5 straight wins for Pompey against Burnley, all in all Burnley edge the overall record by one.

I arrived late- I always arrive late- luckily so did Norris. Right result although I thought Kitson possibly should've been sub'd if he'd seen Red it would've been all his own work and he wasn't popular with the few of us who made the journey. Btw they do a good breakfast oop ere - ee by gum
